Description

THE BEATLES - 'HELP!'

This possibly unique UK 1965 1st mono pressing is on the yellow & black Parlophone label: PMC 1255

Both labels carry the 'Sold in UK..' text & 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd..' worded rims.

An 'MT' purchase tax code is visible around the centre of the side 1 label.

Matrix numbers: XEX 549-2 & XEX 550-2

Stamper codes: 2/GAR & 5/GOG

Vinyl weight: 159g

The unique factor about this copy is that is is housed within a misprinted front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed cover with TWO front mono indicators. I have never seen another with this error.

The disc comes complete with its original 'Use Emitex...' tissue-paper lined inner-sleeve.

Disc

Labels: NEAR MINT

A superb set with just a handful of light spindle trails around the side 2 centre hole and even less on side 1 indicating minimal careful play.

Visual: NEAR MINT

Outstanding deep-gloss playing surfaces which are completely unmarked in strong daylight. Close and careful inspection beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals little more than some harmless wispy paper hairlines from the few times this disc has been removed from its inner-sleeve but no further blemishes or wear whatsoever. Both sides of this quality, heavy copy lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

Play: NEAR MINT

A truly superb totally unworn example which is free from any trace of groove/play wear distortion on any track or either channel. Even the most easily worn passages on side 1 such as the introduction to 'I Need You' and the innermost track 'Ticket To Ride' both play flawlessly. Side 2 also held absolutely no evidence of wear with the majestic mono mix of 'Yesterday' shining through and without any hint of background interference whatsoever. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed with the audio on this outstanding disc.

Cover: EXCELLENT

A very strong and firm example with minimal storage wear and no major faults throughout. The front panel is clean and glossy bearing just two of three small 'thumbnail' wrinkles but no heavy creasing or wear. All corners are clean & unbumped and both opening edges have no tears or feathering. The rear panel is clean overall with just one or two faint fingermarks and minor storagewear but no significant blemishes, writing or missing paper. All flipbacks are intact and both seams are smooth unstressed. There is a little flaking to the laminate on the spine's upper edge, but all the wording is clean and clear.

Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT +

Clean, flat and crisp with just a few gentle storage bends but no writing, tears or seam splits.
