Description

In this auction is a RARE one. It’s “Introducing The Beatles” Version 2 Column Back Cover that lists “Please, Please Me” WITHOUT the comma.

Here are the details:

  • “INTRODUCING THE BEATLES” by The Beatles

  • This is Vee Jay Records VJLP 1062.

  • It was released beginning February, 1964.

  • This is Version 2 of this LP with column back cover that includes the cuts “Ask Me Why” and “Please Please Me” which replaced “Love Me Do” and “P.S. I Love You” which are on Version 1 of this LP.

  • The LP in this auction has the VERY RARE VEE JAY COVER THAT DOES NOT HAVE A COMMA in the song title “PLEASE, PLEASE ME” AT THE TOP OF THE SECOND COLUMN ON THE REAR COVER.

  • According to the Price Guide for the Beatles American Records by Perry Cox & Frank Daniels (and I quote below):

“The cover without the comma is rarer

and it increases the value of the cover”

  • Also, according to Bruce Spizer, Version 2 covers without the comma were manufactured in small quantities at VJ’s California plant and are much more scarce.

  • This Version 2 Cover comes with VINYL that has BLACK LABELS with COLORBAND and the VEE JAY BRACKETS LOGO in white print.

  • BOTH COVER and VINYL are ABSOLUTELY AUTHENTIC! So you can bid with confidence that you are receiving the real deal and not a counterfeit.

  • The COVER is in VERY STRONG VG CONDITION. There is light wear on the front cover primarily near the bottom. There is very light wear on 3 corners and moderate wear on the bottom right corner. The white rear cover with black print has a name, address and phone number written in blue ballpoint at the top left corner. There are also 6 small check-marks in blue ballpoint next to 6 cuts listed on the rear cover. There is light “foxing” (aging) on the rear cover near the opening and a very small tear to the right of the VJ Records brackets logo near the top of the rear cover. There are NO SEAM SPLITS and NO FLAKING ON THE SEAMS. The SEAMS and SPINE are NICE and STRONG.

  • The VINYL is in VG CONDITION with a number of light surface hairlines/scuffs. There are a couple of “feelable” scuffs so most likely there will be a bit of audible distraction like “popping”. Still, the VINYL HAS LOTS OF GLOSS.

A NICE VEE JAY “INTRODUCING THE BEATLES” LP with RARE COVER for your vinyl collection!

Thanks to the Price Guide for the Beatles American Records by Perry Cox and Frank Daniels for information about this LP.
