Description
This is the best of the best. Italian Beatle albums were pressed in such small quantities . Each record had the date of pressing in the deadwax. In the case of this mono Revolver it reads ( euro dating ) 25-8-66 meaning August 25, 1966. The catalog number is PMCQ 31510 meaning monorail recording . ( Stereo PARLOPHON is distinguished by the prefix " S" deadwax matrices are same as UK. XEX -605 T1-XEX-606 T1. I'm quite knowledgable on UK and Italian Beatles albums. A friend of mine in Italy named Stefano Cipriani wrote the book on the subject of Italian Beatle albums. It's called " The Italian Sides of the Beatles " it is very detailed oriented ( beyond belief ) I have a copy of course. You can order from Italy . If in USA ,expect to wait at least a month and expect to pay $100.00 I use it as a reference guide for all Italian Beatles albums. Stefano has visited me here in San Francisco . He enlightened me to the idea of how difficult it is to find first pressing Italian singles and even more so full length albums. I have two copies of this album. Both first pressing mono. However, you will see in pictures I have posted one of the rarest of the rarest Italian mono Revolver albums. ( the first day labels ,with " GOTT TO GET YOU INTO MY LIFE" I just put it in this ad,to show it . That is NOT the one I am selling here. Still, your buying a first day Italian mono pressing. I've included a couple of other photos of Italian Beatles,I'll be listing. Both Let It Be and Hey Jude. Keep your eyes open for those .( 99% of Italian Beatles albums on Apple are reissues . Only the dates in deadwax and 062 prefix ,are Apple first pressings . I digress. Revolver first Italian MONO pressing . Original ! Catalog number PMCQ 31610 Matrix numbers side one XEX-605-T1 25-8-66 Matrix numbers side two XEX-606-T1 25-8-66 PARLOPHON ( no E ) labels Carish cover laminated Condition both visually and audibly . Cover EX ( No seam splits ,very minor wear Original plastic inner sleeve EX ( these are hard to find in EX condition ) Labels both sides EX ( Album has been played,as it is my favourite pressing of Revolver in mono . Spindle trails ,but NOTHING like what you see most UK sellers call EX ,which usually means totally trashed around spindle holes ) Vinyl VG++ to EX minus just hairlines. Any vinyl record that has been played and taken in and out of inner sleeve will have hairline marks on the vinyl. An aside ( Everyone that posts pictures of any entire album is showing something deceiving. All vinyl recotdslook like new in photos . I think every collector will agree with me on that. It means next to nothing. Labels closeups give more details. How often a record was played means much when dealing with fifty year old albums. People didn't have sophisticated playback systems at the time ( generally speaking ) hence groove wear is a big issue ,if any particular album was played a lot.) Sound NEAR MINT ! Doesn't get any better in my opinion, and many others that have heard this album ( I have only played the " GOTT label Revolver twice since 1966. It's just too rare in the condition it is in. Fact is ,the one I am selling sounds the same, but I must check Tomorrow Never Knows ) Very little audio between tracks, almost non existent . I track at 1.7 grams . So you know vinyl is not suffering groove wear . I think,I may have posted a few pix of two Italian Apple first pressing . SIAE . That is where things get confusing ... Will explain details when I post them. One last thing about Italian Beatles. I may sound pedantic. But it will serve you well in the future ,if your a serious record collector. If you know the provenance of how a particular record company gets the analog sound ( tape ) to any given country, this is the sequence and it means much to the Italian pressing plants and mastering engineers . Quite the contrary to Capitol Records here in the USA . They managed to destroy just about every track sent them from EMI in the UK. This will surprise many collectors. I'm only referring to Beatles records in respect to what I sell.( but it is the same chain of command with any recording. EMI would make a flat transfer mix, both mono and stereo. These tapes were 1/4 inch tapes, like what you would have on your home tape recorder. As there would be certain things locked in,whomever or whatever record company received the tape, was limited to a degree as to how they could make it sound different and in their opinions, make it better ( good luck ) What they could do on a mono tape ( 7 1/5 ips, possibly rare 15 ips ) is add more echo or reverb ( Capitol ) they could also compress the sound, bringing up the volume, and lastly equalization EQ ... They could boost the highs ( guitars ,cymbals, boost the mid range ( voices ) and boost or limit the bass . This is why each country that had the same album, would sound different . Generally speaking Parlophone/Apple UK were the gold standard , BUT ! If you know about matrices, mothers and stampers in the deadwax of a record, you will learn much . Metal parts made to press the records could and would wear out. I won't get into that here ... Suffice to say. The Italians took on a hands on approach to the Beatles albums. One thing I have NOT done,is see if Tomorrow Never Knows was shipped off to Italy ,prior to remix 11. I sold my copy of 2/1 matrix mono ( it was only on the mono mix,not stereo,so don't get excited if you have a 1/1 stereo pressing . I timed it on my table after calibrating it. Came in at 2:53 ... I also have the White Album , Italy. Totally different than any mix I've ever heard. I'll be posting albums all week. Some very rare ones. I realize NOTHING the Beatles ever released in the UK would be considered rare . What is rare is condition ... Very, very rare . I'm all about the sound ... You'll love this record. As I don't have to sell these albums,I'm asking what they are really worth. Look at some of the U.K. Sellers grading . You'll see EX for a record that many people would consider a filler . VG+ usually means it is unplayable . I'm giving them a hit ! They deserve it. There are however, six reputable sellers in the UK ,that do in fact sell premium quality albums . Shipping is also a premium $24-$27. My shipping on a record this expensive is $7.00 in the USA . That includes insurance . Overseas,I cannot insure, but will have photo of post office receipt. Hence I only charge $14.00 to Europe and Japan. Will not sell nor ship to Portugal ,Greece,Russia,China etc. All the usual suspects . I will combine shipping of course ...
On Mar-18-16 at 15:46:18 PDT, seller added the following information:I'm referring to the German Hor Zu Die Beatles. It is German Please Please Me. BUT ! It's MONO. Here's the problem. Woman I got it from says it was in her basement ,hence the cover is warped from moisture. Then the inner sleeve is a problem, among other things. The red advert inner sleeve has Sgt Pepper among other Hor Zu albums. That would infer the record was pressed in 1967.
That's impossible ,as I see it. The record is extremely clean,a few scuffs ,little spindle wear. I've tried to find out if indeed they ever did press a MONO version of this album,on the Hor Zu label. Could not find it anywhere . Apparently they did an export ,I believe in mono of this album, but it was on Odeom,I think ? If anyone has any knowledge on this record let me know before I post it on e bay . The other new pix are of deadwax in the Italian Let It Be and Hey Jude. Gives you the exact dates . I'll try to post them today. Thank You On Mar-18-16 at 18:53:25 PDT, seller added the following information:I'm tempted to pull this ad. I see two Italian sellers that have Italian first pressing Revolver albums. That hurts me. Of course they are selling them cheaply and I can GAURANTEE the condition of either of those will be NOTHING like the copy I'm selling ,condition wise . I've bought from Italian sellers privately . They all over graded immensely !
There is no way someone is going to pay what this album is worth at this time. People will try to save a buck and wonder why I expect to get at least $250.-$300. It's because this album is nothing like the others listed . This is one reason I'm reluctant to try and sell on eBay . Too many foreign sellers don't grade remotely the correct condition of a record. If this doesn't hit at least $200. in the next couple of days,I'm pulling the ad. On Mar-21-16 at 14:52:15 PDT, seller added the following information:As an example of what Italian pressings are selling for in similar condition, " Beatles in Italy " red label 1965 ,just sold for $530. And $22. Shipping from Russia ,no less. It just sold last week, easy to look up. Condition was VG+ to EX . As I've mentioned as nauseum, pictures say next to nothing .
PARLOPHON ( Italy ) changed to black labels when Revolver came out,so there are no red label Italian first pressing Revolver albums. If you see one,it's fake, they were all black/silver . Best looking labels of any country ... I imagine this one I'm selling is better sounding ,as it is EX to NM sounding . As I mentioned, all of a sudden there is a glut of first pressing ITALIAN Revolver albums. The prices are Ridiculously low,and so is the condition. You can gamble and buy one of those and rest assured ,you will get what you pay for. If this album doesn't hit at least $500. I'll be disappointed . But I'm stuck now. This is the one I've been playing,so it has been played, but I track very light 1.7 grams ... No groove wear . Hairlines definitely ,as with any record that has been played and taken in and out of inner sleeve. This will come in the original Italian plastic sleeve . On Mar-21-16 at 23:39:41 PDT, seller added the following information:Just had album cleaned . Dead quiet between tracks ( other than the fact that stylus is on the vinyl ! As close to a mint sounding record you could find .
I'll maintain NM on sound . In other words,I don't believe it would have sounded any better when it was new fifty years ago.price rating
