1981 UK Lennon vinyl box set, Apple JLB8. Includes all 8 Lennon Apple LPs, plus a booklet from the Liverpool Echo.

The vinyl is all as-new, unplayed. I bought it new in ’81, opened it, inspected it and put the LPs into protective rice paper inner sleeves. And then back into the box, where it’s all been stored for 41 years.

VINYL: Gorgeous vinyl, all the way around - every disc, both sides. The pictures really don’t do them justice.

COVERS: Covers are the typical flimsy UK cardboard construction (some laminated on the front, some not), but they’ve been well-protected inside the box all these years. And they still look just like they’re fresh from the factory.

No wear, no seam splits and all the corners are square. Also no bends or creases, except for a minor 1/2” crease at the top of the Imagine cover (looks like it happened during factory assembly, because it’s only on the front).

INSERTS: The inserts have also been very carefully protected. Here’s what’s included, by album: Imagine (custom inner lyric sleeve, poster & pig postcard); Sometime In NYC (custom inner sleeves); Mind Games (custom inner lyric sleeve); Walls & Bridges (lyric booklet & custom inner sleeve, and the original “flaps” cover); Shaved Fish (custom inner sleeve).

For some unknown reason, the custom inner lyric sleeve for the Plastic Ono Band LP wasn’t included. I thought it was just missing on my copy, but I’ve since read/heard of other copies that also didn’t include it. And of course, there were no inserts for the Rock & Roll LP.

OUTER BOX: Has been stored in a plastic outer sleeve that I pieced together myself. The binding that holds together the inner and outer boxes is intact. All four corners are fully intact with no splits. No wear on the front or back, although there are a few scratches along the very top and some wear on the bottom corners.

The set also includes a 20-page black & white ”LENNON” tribute booklet from the Liverpool Echo, reproducing stories and photos they printed though the years.
