READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
So with that said…
Beatles LP 1964 Introducing the Beatles Version 1 Vee Jay 45 Labels, Nice VG+ Vinyl!
Collectors know that Version 1 contained the songs, “Love Me Do” and “P.S. I Love You,” and that Vee Jay was issued a cease-and-desist court order from Capitol Records to stop using those titles on this LP.
These copies are hard enough to find. But as an added layer of scarcity, this copy was from the extremely limited run where Vee Jay had run out of album-sized labels, and they were forced to use 45-sized labels in order to complete this version’s run of the album.
Vinyl--- VG+/VG+. Nice-looking shine on the vinyl, both sides. There are light to moderate amounts of very light lines, but none are scuffs. Side 1 has two tiny pieces of fuzz embedded into the vinyl while being pressed. Non-feelable.
Plates--- Has all the markings of the very first pressing.
** “A” plates on both sides.
** “Audio Matrix” stamp is deep, brand new-looking and sharply legible, both sides.
** “MR” machine-stamped circle from Monarch Records.
**Hand-etched delta (triangle) is present both sides.
This is no doubt a first-pressing from the first plates. Sound reproduction is deep and warm!
Cover--- Strong VG. All seams and spine are completely intact, NO SPLITS.
**Halo is present around Ringo, John and George.
**Spine printing is present, bold and perfectly legible.
**All four black dots between texts are present and perfectly clear.
** “Vee Jay” printed twice on the spine.
Front cover has moderate ringwear, back cover has light dirtwear.
Labels--- VG+/VG. Both sides have light spindle marks, and not very many. Some scratches on each side. Side 2 label has two dots of missing paper, and initials written in the rainbow.
**Smaller 45-sized labels don’t reach all the way to the edges of the label platforms. Concentric rings barely fits on the labels at all. See photos. **
Vee Jay Inner Sleeve--- VG+. The only issue with this sleeve is a bottom center seam split, about ¼-inch long. Otherwise, this sleeve would have graded Excellent.
**This is the earlier 1962-1963 Vee Jay inner sleeve, which is predominantly red and white, as opposed to the 1964-1966 color sleeve. This is the proper sleeve this album should have been issued with.**
A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.
Is your Beatles collector always hard to buy for at Christmastime?
**Buy them this and watch them freak out like I froke out when I first found it!**
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
