READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
So with that said…
Beatles LP 1965 Rubber Soul MONO Consignment Decca in Shrink, Second Press, EX!
Vinyl--- EX/EX. Vinyl would be NM, except for some manufacturer’s marks in the vinyl on both sides. More pronounced on Side 1. Some cloudy stuff. Had that not been there, this LP would look absolutely unplayed.
Plates--- T14P/P15P. The extra letter is the trademark of Decca consignment copies.
Cover--- EX. Back cover has some yellowing down the mouth where the shrink exposed the cover. Otherwise, the white areas on the front are still blinding white. Back cover has some dirtwear and ringwear under the shrink. Back slick is flat with no gloss, making trapped dust more susceptible to creating dirtwear.
All seams and spine are brand new, muscular-strong. NO SPLITS. Not even almost.
Shrinkwrap is tight. There is some writing in black marker on the shrink, not on the cover. See photos.
Breathe Holes--- There are two breathe holes on the front cover. One is in the brown area of the letter “O” in the word, “Soul.” The other is due east, to the right of Paul’s head. See photos.
Labels--- NM/NM. Second pressing labels have “The Beatles” under the album title. First pressings didn’t name the band. There are first pressing labels from Decca without “The Beatles,” making this Decca’s second run as well.
Labels are flat against the vinyl, which is also trademark of Decca lathes.
Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG+. Original Capitol olive green inner sleeve would have graded EX, except for a small accordion-tear on one side seam, just on one side. Otherwise, sleeve is flat, razor-sharp and has NO SPLIT SEAMS.
A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.
RIAA: 3
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
