READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Beatles LP A Hard Day’s Night Scarcer Tan Label & Reversed Credits on Back, VG++!

Tan labels of “A Hard Day’s Night” aren’t generally thought of as scarce.  That’s because most collectors don’t try to obtain all the tan label variations.  But in my 51 years of collecting, I’ve only seen this one copy.

Like a lot of label variations out there, it features no songwriting credits, No ASCAP/BMI designations, no running times, no “vocal/instrumental” designations or even “The Beatles” on their labels.  However; this one has a curious typeset that features microprint in bold that most other variations do not have.  See the compere photos for other more common labels with this same lack of information that you’ll recognize.

Also, the back cover features the reversed credits, “Released Thru ALUN OWEN” and “Screenplay by UNITED ARTISTS.”

Finally, all the Beatles tracks are in MONO.  All the soundtrack instrumentals are in STEREO.

Anyone else have one of these?

Vinyl--- VG++/VG++.  Fine angel hairlines on both sides.  JUST too many for an EX grade.  Both sides shine somewhere between 90 and 95% brand new.

Plates--- UAS-6636-A Re 2/ UAS-6636-B Re 2

Cover--- VG++.  Still in shrink. Transitional cover looks close to new.  Original covers were bright cherry red.  1970’s covers were a darker shade of burnt orange.  This early 1970’s cover is a darker cherry red/lighter burnt orange.

There’s a small area of missing slick on the front cover, top left corner.  The back cover’s corresponding top right cover is missing a square of missing shrink about an inch and a half wide, and two and a half inches long.  Bottom corners have light crunches and creases.  Bottom right front cover/bottom left back cover has a small area of water damage.

Labels--- NM/NM.  Both labels look brand new.  NO SPINDLE MARKS.

Inner Sleeve--- VG.  Sleeve has moderate yellowing.  Both side seams have splits a few inches long.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: N/A.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.

CAUTION!  There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids.  A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
