CONDITION
Disc
Visual: MINT-
A superb looking vinyl which has been extremely well cared for over its 55 year history. Very difficult to fault with no marks at all when viewed in strong daylight. Even under a strong halogen desklight nothing much more is revealed other than ultra faint whispy sleeve removal marks. Grades confidently at near MINT. The heavy duty vinyl lies 100% flat on the turntable. Now Extremely tough to find a Beatles For Sale UK 1st pressing in this condition.
Labels: EXCELLENT
A bright and unworn set of yellow & black Parlophone labels. Spindle trails are visible on side two and to a lesser degree on side one. Judging from the spindle trails on side one, side two has not been played very much at all. All the lettering is unworn and there is no writing or personalisation to either label. The KT tax code is visible on side two.
Audio: MINT-
As the Beatles For Sale is one of the Beatles more acoustic albums it’s important to find a clean sounding copy. This copy wont disappoint and has all the clarity and detail associated with these early UK 1st pressings. Completely unworn audio without any distortion whatsoever. I’m a Loser, Baby’s in Black and I’ll Follow the Sun all sound crystal clear with a wonderful analogue dynamic. Other than some very light static on the beginning of No Reply there is very little if anything to fault. A stunning audiophile copy. The record does not jump or stick and there are no pops or ticks.
Cover
EXCELLENT+
Due to its flimsy construction and difficulty in removing and placing the record back into the inner gatefold area, it has become one of the hardest of all Beatles covers to find in anything approaching excellent condition. This original 1964 sleeve is in exceptional unworn condition and still retains its original shop freshness. The only fault is some laminate blistering by the spine on the lower half of the sleeve where the laminate has come away slightly from contact with the sleeve. The front panel however is fresh and unworn as is the rear panel. The interior gatefold is unmarked with sharp edges and corners. One of the finest examples I have come across.
Inner-sleeve EXC+
Clean & correct 1964 ‘rice paper’ inner with no writing.
