READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
Beatles LP Paul McCartney Cold Cuts Fan Club LP of Unreleased Songs from the 70’s, EX!
The title of this album is a clever play on words to the greatest hits phrase, “Hot Hits.” But it also serves as a play on words to his British fan club’s name, “Club Sandwich.”
At the time that this album was issued in 1981, these tracks had not been released. They were recorded for possible inclusions on albums from Ram to London Town. About half of them have since been released as bonus cuts on CD releases of his early 70’s albums, or have been contributed to movie soundtracks. Many of them were either remixed for release, such as for 12-inch singles in Europe only, or were completely re-recorded. But there’s still about half of these, which have never seen a proper release.
I think the gem of tunes still never heard by the public is the track, “Waterspout.” Not to be confused with his 1980 song, “Waterfalls,” “Waterspout” might have been held back, because it was written and recorded in 1977 for the “London Town” album while he was still being stung by Lennon’s hatred for his silly love songs.
However, this one has a beautiful, bouncy melody that uses some subtle double entendres that are pure pop delight. Had he issued this song as a single, maybe with “A Love For You” as the B-side, he would have had another top ten on both sides of the pond.
Vinyl--- NM/NM. Vinyl looks 100% brand new. Sound quality is just a volume bar below normal. Some tracks play with tape hiss.
Plates--- Cold Cuts-A, MAC 1980-A/Cold Cuts-B, MAC 1980-B.
Cover--- EX. Light record outdent to both sides. 100% glossy. Back cover has moderately yellowed. NO SEAM SPLITS.
Labels--- NM/NM. Side 1 has just one extremely short, light spindle mark. Side 2 doesn’t.
Inner Sleeve--- VG+. Original inner sleeve is plastic. Sleeve has moderate wrinkling, but NO SPLIT SEAMS.
A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original inner sleeve en route.
RIAA: N/A.
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
