Quality vinyl for the discerning collector
The Beatles – Revolver 1966 – UK 1st STEREO pressing on the yellow & black Parlophone label, PCS 7009 dating to the original release date of August 5th 1966.
Positively a UK 1966 1st STEREO pressing of Revolver with 1st mother stampers 1 PD & 1 AH and not a later pressing from 1968.
A superb example of this very early ultra rare 1966 stereo pressing
In 1966 EMI were still producing vast quantities of mono records compared with stereo and as such these stereo records are far scarcer than their mono counterparts.
Whilst the Beatles were still living up to their ‘mop top’ image on tour, a completely different side was emerging in the studio. Revolver is both melodic and experimental, it pushed the boundaries of music to a new place and is considered to be a masterpiece. This stereo version differs from the mono version in various aspects.
Happy bidding and good luck!
Matrix numbers: YEX 605-1 & YEX 606-1
Stamper codes: 1/PD & 1/AH (both first Mother stampers)

Disc
Visual: EXCELLENT +
Fresh looking vinyl retaining its original high gloss sheen. The disc has clearly been played only a handful of times. Appears in near mint condition when viewed in strong daylight. I noticed a small light mark on side one but nothing else. On close inspection side two has one or two very light surface marks that only become apparent when the record is angled towards the light but otherwise they can be easily missed. Under a strong halogen desklight nothing much more is revealed other than some whispy sleeve removal marks. Fabulous looking vinyl for this rare stereo vintage and easily graded at excellent+. The vinyl lies 100% flat on the turntable.
Labels: EXC+ to MINT-
A fresh set of unworn labels showing that the record has only been played a handful of time in its 53 year history. Side one as the KT tax code. Neith label has any writing or personalization.
Audio: EXC+ to MINT-
Rich and dynamic analogue sound throughout in its original stereo form. The music signals are unworn. There is some light static in places with the occasional light tick but overall this is a superb sounding disc. The easily damaged tracks such as Eleanor Rigby, Here There and Everywhere and For No One all play superbly. The brass section on I’ve Got to Get You into My Life sounds wonderful on this original Abbey Road stereo mix. The record does not jump or stick.
Cover
EXC+ to MINT-
A beautifully preserved 1966 Garrod & Lofthouse STEREO cover. The front cover is in pristine condition with just two barely visible small thumbnail creases. The rear panel is also in remarkable condition showing signs of only very light handling. All flipbacks are strong and intact. The spine is uncrushed and the writing clearly legible. A stunning example. Overall grading at or around near MINT.
Inner-sleeve EXCELLENT+
Original 'patents applied for' inner.
