READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
So with that said…
Beatles LP Sgt. Pepper 1968/69 Jax W9 Side 2 Defective Plate EXCELLENT/ VG+
For those unfamiliar (if there are any at this point), collectors are aware of the rare Jacksonville pressing from the 1968/69 run that was pressed with a defective plate on Side 2, which contained a version of “Good Morning, Good Morning” that plays with the right channel dropped out for most of the song.
Here’s a very solid copy that can either be your keeper, or an excellent play copy until and if you ever come across a NM one.
Vinyl--- Side 1 EXCELLENT. Side 2 VG+.
Plates--- X8/ W9. Hand-etched letter “O” in the dead waxes on each side make this the Jacksonville plant.
Cover--- Solid VG. Less than age-appropriate wear to the cover. Some copies of this error run were issued in the remaining first-pressing covers. This is one of those. All seams and spine are structurally very strong, NO SPLITS. However, the inside gatefold has about a one-inch split in the center seam.
Insert--- Nice VG+. One finger divot to the left of Ringo’s head. Light creases to the top right area. Otherwise, the insert is full-gloss, nice and flat. A little yellowed on the back, not bad though.
Labels--- NM, both sides. NO SPINDLE MARKS.
Capitol Inner Sleeve--- This release was issued with a generic white inner sleeve with no die-cut hole for the labels to show through. Excellent condition.
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
