READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Beatles LP White Album Unconfirmed Apple Labels 1970 COMPLETE EX/NM Vinyl!

As discussed in previous auctions, the label variation with the “Mfd. By Apple Records, Inc.” disclaimer found on the Side 2 labels of The Beatles’ catalogue titles prior to 1969 were long-thought not to exist.  I’ve still not verified copies of all the titles.

However, I can tell you that the two hardest-to-find titles are “The Beatles’ Story” and this one.

Vinyl--- All four sides occupy the space between Excellent and NM.  Plenty of original gloss, but there is a very slight dulling over the last 5 decades.

Side 1 has the longest light scratch, which I have exaggerated and brightened in the photos.  When you receive the LP, you will see that it is hardly there under normal room lighting.  I had to shine a light source directly into the grooves to get it to show.

Otherwise, all four sides look very close to new.

Plates--- A71/ A70, A75/ A68.  All within the “A” series, the plates are still fairly early.  The hand-etched delta symbol in the dead wax makes this copy a Winchester pressing.  In fact, all of this unconfirmed run so far have been exclusively Winchester pressings.

Cover--- Very good-looking album cover.  No serial number on the front cover.  “The Beatles” is embossed.  Full gloss, front and back.  Light foxing, light record outdent.  Spine slick has a thin crack all the way down, but the spine itself is not split.  Top seams have light shelfwear, not bad.  Top front right pocket has a ¾ inch split.  See photo.

Gatefold--- Top has light foxing.  Some titles have small pen marks next to them.  NO CENTER SPLITS.

Poster--- VG.  Has one seam split about 6 inches.  Finger divots and very light creases throughout.  Full gloss.  Okay poster, not great.  Pretty average wear for a 55 year-old sheet of glossy paper.

Photos--- Excellent.  All four photos still look remarkably new.  A little browned around the edges, but they look barely handled.  Second-printing photos have the “Printed in U.S.A.” circle in the bottom left corners, but the “Apple Records, Inc.” disclaimers have been deleted.

Breathe Holes--- Fine, thanks.  Yours?

Labels--- EX/ NM. LP 1 has light spindle marks on both sides.  LP 2 has none.  Otherwise, these labels look brand new, 1970-printed.  Dark Apples, full gloss.

Apple Inner Sleeves--- Both sleeves are generic white with no die-cut holes for the labels to show.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

• NOTE:  I ran out of room to include photos of the poster and 4 photos, but they are included!

This is a remarkably nice example of the second-hardest Apple label variation to locate.  Unconfirmed before now, here’s the proof that they exist.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
