THE BEATLES - 'LOVE ME DO'/'P.S. I LOVE YOU'
UK 1962 1st PRESSING 45
This 1962 1st pressing of The Beatles' 1st single is on the red & silver Parlophone label: 45-R4949
Both bear the 'Ardmore & Beechwood' publishing credit & 'Made in Gt. Britain' text
An 'MZT' purchase tax code is visible in the centre of the 'Love Me Do' label
'MPZT' codes are stamped in both run-outs.
There is a minor variant to the songwriting credit beneath the 'Love Me Do' title where 'Lennon-McCartney' has been nudged a few spaces to the left. On most copies this is centred.
This disc is normally found within a 'beach-striped' or 'coloured diamonds' Parlophone company cover but some copies were sold in the the earliest version of the green & white Parlophone covers in early 1963. These initial types are identifiable by a misprint on the rear, located in the lower box which reads (Controlled by Electric & Musical Instruments Ltd.). The word 'Instruments should have read 'Industries'.

CONDITION
Labels: EXCELLENT
Both are clean & bright with number of spindle marks are visible around each centre hole but no writing, missing paper or stickers - past or present on either side.
Visual: GOOD
Both playing surfaces are clean but bear many light marks and scratches consistent with frequent handling & play. However, there are no deep or feelable marks or scratches on either side and both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable.
Play: VERY GOOD
Clearly played many times but there is no major deterioration to the sound quality. Some light background is present throughout but sides but there are no clicks, pops, jumps or any other such fault on this respectable copy.
Cover
VERY GOOD +
Clean & flat with some minor storage creases together with the disc's catalogue number written in the upper right corner, but no splits or tears anywhere.
