Description
This item is a first press mono album released on January 20, 1964 on Capitol Records by The Beatles entitled ‘Meet The Beatles’. Record label and number is Capitol Records T 2047. This particular album is considered a first pressing as the record labels have no BMI or ASCAP credits after the song titles (see photos). Exact press runs are not known, but it is speculated that about 20,000 copies were manufactured with this label and these label variations were only available on the east coast. These initial pressings also do not include George Martin producer credits on the back of the cover. Record itself is in strong VG condition with light hairline scuffs that can be seen under a strong light. Record played very nicely on my Denon turntable with no clicks, pops or skips. There is some light surface noise between songs and some light surface noise on the song ‘Till There Was You’. Record was professionally cleaned on a Nitty Gritty record cleaning machine. Record labels are in great condition with little if any spindle wear (see photos). Record cover is in strong VG condition with just some light wear, some very slightly creased corners at the upper right and lower right corners and some wear at the bottom left corner (see photos). This first press album comes complete with its original dark blue Capitol Records paper inner sleeve. An overall very decent copy of this rare first pressing and will definitely fill a hole in your Beatles collection until and if you can ever find another copy in better condition.
