PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION BEFORE BIDDING
This item is a very rare Stereo first pressing of the great Beatles LP ‘Meet The Beatles’. Record label and number is Capitol Records ST 2047. This rare Stereo first pressing has NO BMI or ASCAP credits after the song titles on the record label. According to the ‘Price Guide For The Beatles American Records’ by Perry Cox & Frank Daniels about 2000 copies of this Stereo first pressing LP were made. Mono pressings are also rare but a little more common.
NOW THE BAD NEWS. Record itself is in very rough shape and according to the Perry Cox/Daniels Beatles price guide the record would grade between a G and G-. Record has a number of scratches (too many to count) BUT does play through without any skips when I played it on my Denon turntable and actually does not sound bad. (they knew how to make records back then!) Noticeable surface noise between songs but not bad during the songs. Record labels are in decent condition with light spindle and light wear marks but no writing. (see photos). Usually I wouldn’t list a record in this condition but because of it’s rarity I’m doing so with a very low minimum bid and no reserve price. This is the only copy of this record that I’ve ever had for sale and if you win the record at least you can say that you own a first pressing no BMI or ASCAP ‘Meet The Beatles’ Stereo LP. Not many Beatle collectors can say that. Will fill a nice hole in your collection. I wish it were in better condition but how many of these Stereo first pressings ever come up for sale.
Record cover is in very good condition (#3 on the back with no George Martin credit) with just some light ringwear mostly on the back of the cover. No splits or tears. Record comes with it’s original Capitol blue inner sleeve. See photos for song titles.
