THE BEATLES - 'PAPERBACK WRITER'/'RAIN'
1966 UK *DEMONSTRATION* 45
**100% GENUINE COPY IN PROMO SLEEVE**
This is an extremely rare & genuine 1966 UK DEMONSTRATION 45 on the red & white Parlophone label: R 5452
Both sides bear the correct oversized labels which cover the ridges around the edge of the label and have 'The Gramophone Co.Ltd...' rims.
The incorrect release date (27.5.66) was printed below the centre holes on both sides. This has been corrected by hand to the correct release date (10.6.66) on the 'A' side label.
The 'KT' tax/price code is visible in the centre of the side 2 label.
The disc is housed in a rare, original & genuine EMI/Parlophone 'Top Pop' promotional cover.
Matrix numbers: 7XCE 18380-2 & 7XCE 18381-2
Stamper numbers: 1/G & 2/P
The '1/G' mother/stamper on side 1 confirms this disc as one of the first few hundred copies ever pressed.
CONDITION Disc Labels: 1. EXCELLENT 2. EXCELLENT PLUSAs previously mentioned, the side 1 label has the release date corrected by hand and some minor wear around the hole.
The label on side 2 is pristine and unmarked.
Visual: VERY GOOD PLUS
Both surfaces are clean and bright and show no significant marks or scratches when viewed in strong daylight.
Close inspection directly under a halogen desk lamp reveals only some light/wispy hairlines, but no major visual faults.
Audio: VERY GOOD PLUS
Despite receiving numerous plays, there is no major deterioration to the sound on either side. The strong & innovative bass on both songs is a particular highlight of this mono disc.
Apart from a single light light tick on the side 1 run-in, both sides are free from any clicks, pops, jumps or any other significant audible faults.
Cover: EXCELLENT PLUS
Crisp and clean with just hint of storagewear but no writing, tears or splits.
