THE BEATLES - 'PAPERBACK WRITER'/'RAIN''

Only a tiny batch of their June 1966 45 were manufactured with a SOLID CENTRE which bears 1st press black & silver Parlophone labels: R 5452

Both labels carry the 'Sold in UK..' text and have 'Gramophone Co..' rim texts.

The 'KT' purchase tax code in present in both run-outs only.

Matrix numbers: 7XCE 18380-2 & 7XCE 18381-2

Stamper codes: 9/PM & 9/GMM

Housed in an original full colour EMI advertising cover c.December 1966 which depicts The Beatles' 'Oldies But Goldies' LP, amongst others.

Labels: EXCELLENT

Both are clean & fully intact with just two or three tiny spindle trails around the side 1 centre hole only. Despite from a little fading to a section of the side 1 label (possibly from manufacture), both are in very respectable condition.

Visual: EXCELLENT

Pristine deep gloss playing surfaces which are, apart from a single faint scuff on 'Rain', unmarked in strong daylight and directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp. Both sides of this superb copy also lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

Sound Quality: EXCELLENT -

The massive mono mix shines through on this well looked after copy. Like nearly all copies of this 45, there is a little play-wear distortion to the peaks, but other significant or major faults either side.

Cover: EXCELLENT -

Light storagewear but no writing, tears or seam splits.
