THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'
1963 UK '3rd' PRESS *STEREO* LP
**ULTRA-RARE 1st Y&B LABELS**
Pressed for just a few days, this first yellow & black presing is arguably rarer than black & gold labelled copies.
This ultra-rare 1963 UK '3rd' STEREO pressing is on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PCS 3042
Both omit the 'Sold in UK..' & 'Recording First Published..' texts.
The labels include the small '33 1/3' figure in the 9 o'clock position.
The rims around each label begin 'Parlophone Co. Ltd..'
A single 'M' tax/price code is visible on the side 1 label.
Housed a 'gold & black'/1st issue front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed cover.
The 'Angus McBean' credit is positioned in the extreme lower right corner.
Complete with its original poly-lined 'Use Emitex' inner-sleeve.
Matrix numbers: YEX 94-1 & YEX 95-1
Stamper numbers: 1/M & 1/G
The '1/G' mother/stamper confirms that this copy was one of the first few hundred pressed.
Minor hole wear and a few light spindle trails but no writing, marks or missing paper.
Visual: EXCELLENT MINUS
Both sides are extremely clean, bright & glossy with no groove-whitening or dulling to either surface from improper long-term storage.
The only significant marks when viewed in strong natural daylight are two long fingernail lines on side 2, neither of which are deep or 'feelable'
Close & careful inspection directly under a halogen desk lamp reveals a few light stylus lines and wispy inner-sleeve removal hairlines, but no further significant wear.
100% flat both sides on the turntable with no dishing or warping.
Audio: EXCELLENT
Carefully played on good quality equipment, no background crackle or groovewear distortion is audible in either channel on any track.
Both run-ins and all bands play extremely quietly with just an occaisional faint/soft tick but no heavy clicks, jumps or any other major faults anywhere.
Cover: VERY GOOD MINUS
This rare example is displays moderate handling & storagewear but no major faults.
The front panel is clean & glossy with just a few light spine & edge wrinkles but no significant marks or heavy creases.
The lower edge has some small areas or missing laminate and there is some wear to the lower corners.
The upper corners and opening edges have some light rubbing but no major wear.
The rear panel bears some discolouration and the original retailer's stamp but no other significant marks or any writing.
Some damage to the lower flipback is visible but both seams are unsplit and the spine is clean & fully worded.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT
Crisp, clean and undamaged with just some minor toning to the edges but no splits, tears or writing.
