1963 1st & 2nd *GOLD LABEL* MONO LPs

(Please read the descriptions carefully and bear in mind the condition of each when bidding)

Copy #1

The first copy is a UK 1st pressing with initial, incorrect 'Dick James..' publishing credits for tracks 1 & 2 on side 1 and 4 & 6 on side 2.
I cannot see any tax/price codes in the center of either label.
Housed in the correct, early front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed mono cover with the 'Angus McBean' credit in the extreme lower right corner.
Complete with an original poly-lined 'Use Emitex' inner-sleeve.

Matrix numbers: XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-1N

Stamper codes: 1/G & 1/G

The above stamper codes are the earliest possible and confirm this copy as being amongst the first few hundred copies ever pressed.

CONDITION

Labels: VERY GOOD
All the delicate gold print is bright & intact with no writing or missing paper. Apart from the obvious wear around the centre hole, there is little to fault on either side.

Visual: FAIR
Both playing surfaces display numerous marks and scratches consistent with frequent handling and play.
However, both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable with no dishing or warping.

Play: FAIR
Played many, many times, a considerable amount of surface noise is present together with the occaisional moderate click.
There is also a single jump on 'P.S. I Love You', but no further major faults.

Cover

FAIR
Quite tired with a fair amount of wear all-round and two names written on the rear panel.

Inner-sleeve

GOOD
General light creasing together with a few light marks & the album & group written in the upper left corner. However, there are no tears or splits to any seam.

Copy #2

This bears the second variation of the gold Parlophone label with the corrected 'Northern Songs' publishing credits for tracks 1 & 2 on side 1 and 4 & 6 on side 2.
An 'MT' tax/price code is visible in the center of the side 2 label.
Housed in the correct, early front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed mono cover with the 'Angus McBean' credit in the extreme lower right corner.
Complete with an original poly-lined 'Use Emitex' inner-sleeve.

Matrix numbers: XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-1N
Stamper codes: 2/GL & 1,2/GO

CONDITION

Labels: EXCELLENT
A clean & bright set with no damage to any of the gold print and just slight wear around each centre hole.

Visual: GOOD
Both playing surfaces of this copy are clean but with a number of fingernail scuff marks and minor scratches.
Inspection beneath halogen light shows up many wispy hairlines - all consistent with frequent handling & play.
Again, both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable with no dishing or warping.

Play: GOOD
Again, played many times and some groove/play wear is audible throughout.
An occaisional moderate click is also audible but there are no jumps, repeats or any other such major faults.

Cover

FAIR
As with the first cover, this is also very tired and shelfworn. There is some damage to the lower flipback and the other wear is clear to see in the images above.

Inner-sleeve

GOOD
General wear with two small seams splits but no writing or damage to the centre hole.

• Strict & grading under strong daylight & directly beneath a halogen desk lamp to UK 'RECORD COLLECTOR' standards.
