THE BEATLES
'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'
1963 UK **2nd YELLOW & BLACK LABEL** MONO LP
***NO 'RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED....' LABELS**
Issued briefly before the change to the familiar '4th' pressing label, this was the second version of the yellow & black label design.
The small '33 1/3' had now been removed, leaving only the matrix number but not yet included the 'Recording First Published..' text.
Please see my other items for the 1st yellow and black label design with the rare extra '33 1/3' text.
This rare 1963 early mono pressing is on the second design UK black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 1202
Both labels omit the 'Recording First Published..' and 'Sold in UK..' texts but carry 'Parlophone Co Ltd...' rims.
The early 'MT' tax/price code is visible in the centre of the side 1 label.
Housed in the correct front laminated, tri-flipback 'E.J. Day' cover, with the 'Angus McBean' credit in the extreme right-hand corner.
Complete with original poly-lined 'Use Emitex' inner-sleeve.
Matrix numbers: XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-1N
Stamper numbers: 2/AA & 1/AG
Labels: VERY GOOD PLUS
Light wear around the centre hole but no oher faults.
Visual: VERY GOOD
The surfaces are clean but bear some noticeable surface marks (mostly careless fingernail scuffs) and the occaisional minor scratch.
Very thick heavy vinyl which lies 100% flat on the turntable with no dishing or warping.
Audio: VERY GOOD
Although played many times, all tracks play very well without any heavy groovewear distortion or major faults.
The occaisional light 'pop' is audible between a some tracks but there is no crackle, hiss, jumps or repeats anywhere.
Cover: VERY GOOD MINUS
A correct early example with a bright and clean front panel displaying some creasing to the lower right corner and lower edge but no major faults.
The corners and opening edges show some general storage and handling wear but no tearing or 'feathering'.
The rear panel has some discolouration from storage and handling but there are no serious marks or any writing.
The lower flipback has repaired 5cm section and all display general wear without other major damage.
The lower spine has a 5cm split but the upper seam and spine are strong and intact with no missing paper or laminate.
Strict visual grading in daylight and directly under a halogen desk lamp & audibly at volume on high-end audio equipment
