Summary:

No doubt, one of the ICONIC albums of the 20th Century, ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ was released by EMI/Parlophone, UK back in 1967. It went straight to Number 1, and dominated the top position in the charts for 23 weeks!

Album Description and Condition:

The FIRST ISSUE STEREO FACTORY SAMPLE VINYL LP is on the traditional Black & Yellow Parlophone Label, with ‘The Gramophone Co Ltd label’ rim, ‘Sold in the UK’ and ‘Made in Gt. Britain’ printed to both sides of the SUPERB record labels labels.On the side TWO record label is an official WHITE with RED print FACTORY SAMPLE pointed end sticker.

Side 1 stamped matrix: YEX 638-1 and Side 2: YEX 637-1.
Side 1 stampers: 3/GAO and Side 2: 3/GAA.
SIDE ONE PLAYS SIDE TWO, & SIDE TWO PLAYS SIDE ONE, the record labels have been pressed on the wrong sides of the vinyl disc, this being an early FACTORY SAMPLE this kind of mistake could make this variant very special and very collectible.

Both record labels are in IMPRESSIVE NEAR MINT condition. A BEAUTIFUL CLEAN, UNWORN Set of Record labels, with NO handwriting or fading to the bold Yellow or Silver Printed text, and only a couple of light centre spider trails to each label.When I purchased this album several years ago, I was reliably informed that the disc had not been played more than THREE TIMES.

Both sides of the Vinyl Disc are in STUNNING NEAR MINT condition, LOVELY, CLEAN, UNWORN Vinyl which clearly shows that the disc has hardly been played, showing just some light wispy surface hairlines when placed under strong halogen light. In normal daylight these surface hairlines are not visible. There are NO deep scuffs or deep scratches.

Audio Quality:

The album plays EXTREMELY WELL from beginning to end - A CLEAR, STRONG STEREO sound with NO clicks, NO skips, background noise or distortion.

The Vinyl Disc comes in an ORIGINAL, First Issue, Flame Pink and White inner bag printed ‘Made in Great Britain Patents Applied For’ to the bottom corner, which is a FINE example. There is NO handwriting or tearing, just a small 2”split to the bottom seam.

The album comes with an ORIGINAL First Issue CARD Sgt Pepper Cut-Out, which is in SUPERB, UNDAMAGED UNCUT MINT condition.

…..And is protected in an ORIGINAL First Issue Laminated Garrod & Lofthouse Internal Flip back GATEFOLD Sleeve printed ‘PCS 7027 Stereo’ to the reverse.

The sleeve is in EXCELLENT PLUS condition. The sleeve still retains its high GLOSS laminate to the front, inner gatefold and reverse, with NO fading to the DEEP VIVID colors, and only minimal record indentation to the front panel. There are NO seam splits to the top and bottom edges, and only a couple of mild corner bumps to 2 of the corners. The inside of the Gatefold Sleeve is in SUPERB near mint condition, and the two internal fold over flaps are UNDAMAGED. The spine edge is CLEAN and FIRM with NO laminate flaking and clearly reads 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. The reverse panel of the sleeve is IMPRESSIVE, with only the mildest impression where the record has been stored.

This 1967 ORIGINAL Beatles album is a STUNNING example with the added rarity of being a GENUINE FACTORY SAMPLE, and with MISPRESSED LABELS, this album was purchased by myself from a record reviewer who worked in the music industry during the 1960s and early 1970s
