ONLY 25,000 ISSUED IN PICTURE SLEEVES, HIGHLY RESPECTABLE ALL ROUND EXAMPLE
Description:
With only 25,000 issued in Picture Sleeves, its not surprising that ‘STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER/PENNY LANE’ is one of THE BEATLES most SOUGHT AFTER Original UK Parlophone Singles. In fact only TWO of The Beatles ORIGINAL UK Studio Singles were ever issued in Picture sleeves - the other being ‘Let It Be’.
Released by Parlophone UK in 1967, ’Strawberry Fields Forever/Penny Lane’ was a No 1 Hit Single for The Beatles. The FIRST ISSUE UK Parlophone Vinyl 45 is a SOLID CENTRE variant on the traditional Black and Silver Parlophone Label, with ‘The Gramophone Co Ltd’ Label rim, with ‘Sold in UK…’ label text, and ‘Made in Gt. Britain’ printed to both sides of the record label.
The Side 1 matrix is: 7XCE 18415-1 and Side 2: 7XCE 18416-2.
The side 1 stampers are: KT/5/AR and Side 2: KT/4/MR.
The embossed ‘KT’ tax code is visible to the centre of the Side 2 label.
The Vinyl 45 comes in its ORIGINAL 1967 WAVY TOP Thin Paper PICTURE Sleeve, of which, it is understood, only 25,000 were manufactured. The reverse of the sleeve correctly shows two fold over flaps - one to the bottom, where the E.M.I. Records, Hayes, Middlesex, England address is printed and the other to the right hand side of the sleeve.
Play Quality:
Both sides of the disc play EXTREMELY WELL, without any faults, skips or clicks.
Condition:
Both sides of the SOLID CENTRE record labels are in FINE excellent plus condition, a BRIGHT, UNDAMAGED set of record labels, with no more than a few faint centre spider trails.
Both sides of the Vinyl disc are in VERY NICE excellent plus condition, the DEEP GLOSSY Vinyl shows only a few faint surface hairlines, but certainly no deep scratches or scuffs.
The Original First Issue UK PICTURE Sleeve is in excellent condition. Surprisingly, there is NO tearing and NO seam splits to any part of this paper sleeve, which shows some age tanning, inevitable light creasing, and only a tiny pen mark to the very top left corner of the reverse of the sleeve. For these RARE delicate paper sleeves to survive in any decent condition is a RARITY - most that we come across show tearing and seam splits.
A HIGHLY RESPECTABLE example of this HARD TO FIND Original UK Beatles Single.
