No credit can be given for items lost in the post to non UK addresses unless you have taken out adequate insurance. I always keep "Proof of Posting" receipts.

The LPs and sleeves are visually graded through magnifying glasses under a 100W lightbulb and then again in strong daylight (when we have it in the UK) and play graded if necessary. Stereo records will be play graded on a GARRARD 4O1 turntable with SME 3OO9 II tonearm and SHURE V15 Type IV cartridge. Mono records will be played on a TH0RENS TD160 B MKII turntable with SME 3OO9 II tonearm and GRAD0 Prestige MC+ dedicated mono cartridge. When play graded the results will be reported above. 

GRADING SYSTEM

Record Collector Magazine (UK equivalent of Goldmine) Grading System.

MINT (M) The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT (EX) The record shows some signs of having been played but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG) The record has obviously been played many times but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover and extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G) The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeable deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F) The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and or defaced.

POOR (P) The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B) The record is unplayable or might even be broken and is only of use as a collection filler.

Grading can be fine tuned by adding + or -

Some records in our catalogue are 50 years old or more and may need cleaning. We recommend that all records (even new ones due to the mould inhibitor and release agents used in manufacturing the discs) are professionally cleaned on a Moth, Nitty Gritty, Keith Monks, VPI or some other such machine.

We now have a Moth MKII and a Nitty Gritty 1.5Fi Record Cleaning Machines.

Price includes a new top quality inner sleeve (you do not put clean feet into dirty socks).

1.25GBP if you want a Nagaoka 102 anti-static inner sleeve after cleaning.

Please add $5 to the total amount if paying by BidPay to cover the Western Union charge as the cheque MUST be made out in GB Pounds sterling not dollars. This is still less expensive than UK bank charges, which would also have to be added to the final price, for cashing a Western Union dollar cheque.

PayPal is fine from non UK customers and a voluntary contribution towards my 4% costs would be much appreciated. Cash in GBP via airmail or registered post is the preferred method of payment. US dollars or Euros are also accepted at $2.00 (as at 31st March 2005) and 1.55Euros to 1GBP. (The prevailing bank buying banknote exchange rate will be used if different to the above). If you can't pay cash then I will accept Western Union in GBP only.

I will only accept PayPal as a last resort from UK customers as their fees to me vary from 4% to 10% depending on the cost of the item. As yet I do NOT  pass this charge on.

For UK customers a cheque is preferred NOT PayPal. A cheque just costs you the price of a stamp, PayPal can cost me 10% on low cost items.

Any parcel containing 3 to 7 records are sent in a cardboard box inside a Jiffy type mailing bag. If a 7 record parcel weighs over 2kgs then the Jiffy type bag will not be used to keep it under the 2kg weight limit and save you money on shipping costs.

ANY PARCEL OVER 2 KGS IN WEIGHT (NORMALLY 8 OR MORE RECORDS) HAS TO GO BY PARCELFORCE STANDARD OR ECONOMY SERVICE AT COST OR BY AIR (First Class) OR SURFACE MAIL (Second Class) IN 2 OR MORE PARCELS.

BOX SETS WILL BE CHARGED AS FOLLOWS.....IF THERE ARE X RECORDS IN THE SET POSTAGE AND PACKING WILL BE CALCULATED AT X + 1 RECORDS TO ACCOUNT FOR THE WEIGHT OF THE BOX, BOOKLET, LIBRETTO ETC. (For example if it is a 3 disc boxset the shipping cost will be calculated at 3 + 1 = 4 LP's). If I have overestimated when I take the parcel to the Post Office then a credit will be given.

UK postage and packing costs are normally for First Class Post. (Second Class Post or Standard Parcel Post is available on request or may be used if felt necessary). Registered post for UK customers is 0.66GBP extra.

Surface Mail is almost half of the above prices (apart from Europe where it is only 1GBP cheaper) but takes 4 to 8 weeks to arrive. Airmail is the recommended method of despatch as it only takes up to 4 days. (Two or three Surface Mail parcels have not been arriving, particularly to the USA. Please be aware of this when you request this service as a credit can not be given for parcels lost in the post unless you have paid for insurance cover).

Insurance for airmail and surface mail is available at an extra 3.30GBP for 30GBP of cover or 4.80GBP for 250GBP of cover for each parcel via the "Signed For" service. "Airsure" (a trackable service) may be available to your country for 4GBP on top of the airmail charge with 30GBP of cover or 5GBP for 500GBP of cover.

Superior Packaging

All of my single and double records are sent in dedicated card mailing envelopes with 2 heavy duty cardboard stiffners with the corrugated flutes at 90 degrees to each other for added rigidity, the vinyl is removed from the outer covers and placed in polythene sleeves. Muliple records (3 or more) or boxsets are sent in dedicated corrugated cardboard boxes and then, where possible, placed in a "Jiffy" type Postal Bag. Red "Fragile" stickers are used both sides plus senders name and address for security reasons. If you request different or extra packing (which shouldn't be needed as my records are packed professionally) then I reserve the right to increase my packing costs which the buyer must pay. For example; if you have won 1 or 2 single lp's and you would prefer a corrugated box AND a Jiffy type postal bag please add 1GBP to the above shipping costs within the UK and 1.50GBP worldwide and notify me of your request.
