THE BEATLES - 'SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND'
1967 UK 1st *MONO* PRESSING LP
**NEAR MINT**
My listings this week include items from another major collection of UK Beatles records which I have been commissioned to sell.
For some of the highlights, please take a look at my 'About Me' page.
This outstanding 1967 1st MONO pressing is on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 7027
Both labels carry the 'Sold in UK..' text & 'Gramophone Co..' rims.
The 'KT' tax/price code is visible in the centre of the side 1 label.
Housed in a fully laminated, inner-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed mono cover with a regular width spine.
Complete with its original red & white designer inner-sleeve and unused dark green cut-out sheet.
Matrix numbers: XEX 637-1 & XEX 638-1
Stamper numbers: 3/ATA & 7/MRT
Disc weight: 165g
A clean & bright set with just a few tiny spindle trails to each centre hole indicating less than a handful of plays.
Visual: MINT
Both surfaces are immaculate & 'as new' with all of their deep-gloss shines fully intact in strong daylight with no a single mark or any other visual blemish anywhere on either side.
Close examination beneath my halogen desk lamp reveals nothing but a sparkling rainbow gloss shine but no other marks at all - not even any inner-sleeve removal hairlines.
This copy has been extremely well cared & carefully stored and is heavy. Both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable with no signs of dishing or warping.
Audio: NEAR MINT
The spectacular and superior mono mix on this barely played copy plays perfectly cleanly and clearly throughout with no traces of any perceptible audible wear to either side.
My single careful playcheck at volume revealed only a touch of normal sounding background on each run in and a few inevitable faint ticks on the final piano fade.
However, everything else plays 'as new' with even the delicate introduction to 'Lucy..' and the easily damaged 'She's Leaving Home' playing perfectly.
A real mono reference copy for your archive.
Cover: EXCELLENT PLUS
A top-class example which displays a perfect 'as new' high-gloss front panel laminate with no scratches, ringwear or rubbing to any part.
Its only blemish is a small bruise to the upper left corner, but all other corners are square, unrubbed and undamaged.
All opening edges are clean & sharp with just a few small 'pushes' but certainly no tears of feathering to any.
The rear panel is as glossy as the front with just a 1cm scratch on the lyrics to 'Mr Kite..' but no thumbnails or other wear.
The inside of the gatefold is 'as new' with no marks, writing or any missing paper to the flipbacks.
All seams are smooth and unstressed and the spine is clean, white & fully worded.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT
A clean & flat example which bears just a touch of minor storagewear but no seam splits, writing or tears.
Cut-out Sheet: MINT
