READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Beatles’ Story 1968 2-LP UNDOCUMENTED “Subsidiary of…” Labels, VG+!

The only other copy I’ve ever seen of this label variation was the copy I sold last Christmas.  Labels have completely different font and layout than the far more common labels for this run.  It also features the much scarcer cobalt blue Capitol logo domes and bottom perimeter text.  The more common label variation uses silver domes and white bottom perimeter text.  See compere photo.

This title was by a pretty long shot, the one that sold the least copies to begin with, because by 1968, everybody on the planet knew the Beatles’ story.  It’s hard enough to find the common labels.  This one is so rare that none of the great books discuss it.

That’s because they’ve never seen one.

Vinyl--- VG+/VG+.  VG+/VG+.  All four sides shine like brand new, with the exceptions of a very few soft scuffs per side.  All four sides shine greater than 90%.

Plates--- W5/W3.  W3/W5.  Machine-stamped triangle with the letters, “IAM” inside it makes this copy pressed by Scranton.

Cover--- VG+.  Front and back covers have a mild case of yellowing, very light dirtwear, light ringwear and very light record outdent.  The top seam of the back pocket near the spine is weak, and is beginning to split, so don’t store the records inside the cover.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.  Right now.

Gatefold--- VG+.  Light to moderately yellowed, very light foxing.  NO CENTER SEAM SPLITS.

Labels--- NM/NM.  NM/NM.  The only flaws you’ll find are specks from the printing press.  Gorgeous rare labels!  No SPINDLE MARKS.

Capitol Inner Sleeves--- VG. Generic white inner sleeves with die-cut hole for the labels to show are present.  Sleeves are structurally solid, but they have moderately yellowed.  They also have light to moderate foxing, and one small tear at the center hole.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.

Generic inner sleeves will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeves en route.

RIAA: N/A

I very strongly suggest that if you’re a collector, you buy this copy for yourself, rather than as a Christmas gift.  You’re not going to see another one of these.  You’re just not.  I’ve found two copies in 50 years of constantly looking at records.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.

CAUTION!  There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids.  A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
