READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Beatles’ Story 2-LP UNDISCOVERED “Subsidiary of…” Label Variation, VG+/EX Vinyl!

When most collectors picture the “Subsidiary of…” label variation for “The Beatles’ Story,” they picture the variation that was shared by both the Los Angeles and Scranton plants with the smaller font.  (See compere photo.)

That label has a silver/white dome, the word, “Stereo” in upper and lowercase, the title in loosely-spaced font and the word “Side” included in the side designations, such as “Side 1.”  This label, which is so seldom seen that even the experts and long-term collectors don’t know it exists, has the cobalt blue dome and perimeter print, the word, “STEREO” in all uppercase letters, the title in much more tightly-spaced font and instead of “Side 1” designations, simply has the numeral.

In 50 years of collecting, I’ve come across TWO of these.  If you’ve never seen this variation before, take it seriously that you’ll likely not see it again.

Vinyl--- Configured as sides 1 and 4, 2 and 3, the gradings are as follows:

VG+/EX.  EX/VG+.  All four sides have light lines only, none that are feelable.  All sides are 85% to 90% original shine.  VERY nice-looking vinyl for such a scarce copy!

Plates--- W3/W5.  W5/W3.  Machine-stamped triangle with the letters, “IAM” inside it makes this copy pressed by Scranton.

Cover--- Very strong VG.  Has some light dirtwear throughout, a little ringwear on the front and NO SPLIT SEAMS OR SPINE.

Gatefold--- VG+.  Looks a little better than the cover with a little ringwear to the left panel and NO CENTER SPLIT SEAMS.

Labels--- VG+/VG+.  VG+/VG+.  All four labels retain full color and boldness.  No writing or stickers or dirtwear.  However; all labels have spindle marks, which I brightened in all four photos, but they aren’t as bright in person.

Capitol Inner Sleeves--- Both Strong VG.  Both sleeves have moderate yellowing and visible glue strips down both sides, but NO SPLIT SEAMS.

Generic inner sleeves will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: N/A

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.

CAUTION!  There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids.  A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
