A Description of the Record Package
Incredibly difficult to find in IMPRESSIVE condition, and one of only 25,000 originally issued in Paper Picture Sleeves, this is a GENUNINE opportunity to purchase an Original UK **1st Issue** of The Beatles 1967 Smash Hit Single ‘Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane’ in its SCARCE and Original Paper Picture Sleeve. This was only one of two Beatles Original UK singles that were issued in Picture Sleeves, the other being 'Let It Be'.
This Vinyl 45 is on the traditional Black & Silver Parlophone Label, with 'The Gramophone Co Ltd' label rim text and with 'Sold in UK… label text. The 45 comes in its Original and SCARCE Shaped Top Paper Picture Sleeve.
The dead wax matrixes and stamper information:
The Side 1 matrix is: YXCE 18415-1, Side 2 Matrix: 7XCE 18416-2. Side 1 stampers: '3', 'GMA', and side 2 stampers: '3', 'GAG'. The raised 'KT' tax code is visible on the ‘Penny Lane’ side of the record label.
A Grading Assessment
Both sides of the record labels are in **near mint** condition, bright, clean and unfaded record labels, with no handwriting and No tearing, showing just a couple of light spider marks. Both sides of the Vinyl 45 are also in IMPRESSIVE near mint condition - the Vinyl is Gleaming and unworn, and it is obvious that this 45 has hardly been played. The Paper Picture Sleeve has survived exceptionally well, and graded in excellent plus condition. Remarkably, the sleeve is clean and white, with barely any discolouration. There is NO tearing, NO seam splitting, and NO handwriting to any part of the sleeve, only some inevitable light paper creasing, due to the sleeve being manufactured on thin paper. The majority of these Picture Sleeves were not very well respected at the time, it wasn't felt important, some were discarded, most deteriorated, however, this one has survived very well and it is an IMPRESSIVE example.
An Assessment of the Playing Quality
This is an Impressive Play. Both sides of the 45 plays exceptionally smoothly, with a warm, clear sound, there are No clicks, No Pops, No Skips, No Jumps and No distortion.
This totally Original UK 1st issue is one of the most sought after Beatles Vinyl 45s, and is especially difficult to find in IMPRESSIVE condition, this example could not disappoint.
