Up for sale is the RARE 1982 Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs (MFSL) complete Beatles vinyl records box set 'The Collection'. 14 disks and booklet with reproductions of each original front and back cover along with production notes from MFSL. Also included is the GEO DISC precision alignment disc to help get your turntable sounding it's best. Half-speed mastering by the legendary Stan Ricker on virgin 'Super Vinyl' from the original EMI/Abbey Road Studios master tapes. The first time these tapes were allowed to leave the vaults according on the enclosed booklet. This is a limited edition set and I'm the original owner. #14,954. Back then MFSL was known mostly to us 'audiophiles' who spent ridiculous amounts of time and money tweaking our systems and hanging out in audio 'salons'. This set was a big deal when it came out and if you were fortunate to have a system capable of giving them their due, these recordings brought the Fab Four to life. The 'vinyl is dead' propaganda had started even back then, and here we are 32 years later and it's still not dead. I remember pouring over the jacket photos like a kid in a candy store, which shows images of the master tapes and engineer's logs.

I left the audio game 20 years ago and sold my turntable so this set has been in storage since then. When originally purchased I transferred these disks to reel to reel tape and put them away. I'd play them occasionally and just smile.

Visible inspection shows no obvious scratches on any of the disks. All the original components are included. Jacket, insert jackets and rice paper sleeves for each LP. The booklet protective jacket shows some staining, which I've included in the photos, but the contents including the certificate of authenticity, production notes and album covers are like new.

As far as condition goes based on eBay guidelines I would rate the records themselves which includes the jacket, insert and sleeves as NM/M-. The booklet protective cover is Fair/Good, the 20 content pages are M-/VG+. The GEO DISK was never used and is NM. the box itself shows some white markings you can see in the photo but they're strictly cosmetic. The latch is pseudo gold plated and is tarnished. The box is a molded plastic with compartments to hold everything properly and is in VG+ condition.

if you're a collector searching for the holy grail, this isn't for you. If you're a Beatles fan and music lover with a good sound system who likes the warmth of analog, you're in for a treat! These discs deserve to by played and appreciated.
