Description
Beatles UK - Rubber Soul - ‘LOUD’ Cut.
PMC 1267 Original Mono.
Original 1965 Yellow & Black Parlophone Label.
A UK first press album in 100% original condition, featuring the very first pressing of this LP making it the very collectable ‘withdrawn’ ‘LOUD’ cut issue, with the vinyl matrix of 1 / 1.
When ‘Rubber Soul’ was first released the production sound of the 1/1 matrix record was somewhat different to the final later agreed Mono mix. The storey apparently goes that The Beatles record Producer George Martin was not happy with the 1/1 mix, but his decision did not come in time for these now very collectable 1/1 matrix records to have become available to the public. Some say that the 1/1 matrix were ONLY available for sale for ONE DAY back in late 1965 !, other stories say it was 2 weeks until the 1/1 matrix was officially withdrawn from the public market.
These early mixes only ever appeared in Mono and are distinguished by the vinyl’s matrix - XEX 579-1 / XEX 580-1.
EMI sound Engineers felt that these very early 1/1 presses were ‘unbalanced’ with unclear bass and vocal sounds. The decision was made to halt production while the ‘Mother plates’ were re-cut. Interesting to note, EMI stated at the time “ this record was withdrawn for a reason ” !
Today the sound is a matter of personal taste, making a fascinating piece of Beatle recording history.
CONDITION:
MAIN SLEEVE: is in very good condition, the front of the sleeve is laminated. The rear is unlaminated and for its age it is very clean and remained white in colour, the spine is very good and all the text is clear to read. The rear of the sleeve has a tri flipbacks design. This is a very good original solid sleeve with NO pen writing or stains on. There are three areas on the rear of the sleeve that have some small areas of scuffing.
INNER SLEEVE: is in very good condition, it is the original ‘Use Emitex’ tissue paper sleeve, it is very clean and white for its age, with NO pen writing or stains on.
VINYL: is in good+ to very good- condition and features the original thick, heavy vinyl. The matrix nos. are - XEX 579-1 and XEX 580-1 making it the very first pressing, ‘LOUD’ cut. The Mother/Stampers are: ‘ 1 - M D ’ and ‘ 2 P L ’.
THE AUDIO: the record plays well and does not stick or jump, it lays flat on the turntable. There are some scratches and as scuffs and when played some crackle and the odd ‘tick’ can be heard.
THE LABELS: are in very good condition, there is a ‘KT’ embossed onto side One. The labels are free from Pen writing and sticker residue.

Unfortunately as you will see from my feedback, I have received One negative feedback recently. This is due to the fact that I followed Ebay policy and reported an Ebay member for non payment and in turn I have received this feedback !, while this Ebay member carries on trading unaffected !, I am disgusted that Ebay has let this happen !

To fairly grade the condition of the record, I am using the official grading system from the Record Collector Magazine.
Grading System
The seven standard condition categories and a description of what each one means are listed below:
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
+ or – : indicates a grading in between categories.
