READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Beatles White Album 1968 1st Press RARE B35/ A36 Plate Harrison-Banned Mix VG/ VG-

Definitely an early copy, LP number 1 has the earliest plates I’ve ever seen.  While B35 on Side 1 is one plate removed from the rare George Harrison-recalled and destroyed plates, Side 2 has the mix with the limiter and compression to which George objected.

I did test-play that album, both sides at a friend’s house while he grit his teeth.  Although visually, they look VG-, they both play VG, to our surprise.  Still a lot of surface noise between tracks in the silent grooves, however I’d say that a good 75% of that disappears once the music starts. 

That means that you will hear crackling throughout the music, but no skips and no pops.

Vinyl--- VG-.  All four sides have moderate light scratches, none of which you can feel with the fingertip.  It’s clear that these are needle marks, as opposed to scratches, it’s just that there are a LOT of them per side.

Plays VG.

Plates--- B35/ A36, J52/ J58.  Album 1 is from Los Angeles, album 2 is from Jacksonville.

Cover--- Poor.  ‘Nuff said on that.  Photos and poster are missing.

Labels--- VG.  Record One has 4 of the infamous errors.  All four labels have light spindle marks.  Labels 2 and 4 have a name written on them.

Capitol Inner Sleeves--- Generic white inner sleeves with no die-cut holes for the labels to show through.

Nowhere near a keeper copy under normal circumstances.  But on the other hand, when will you ever find another disc anywhere with the George Harrison-recalled and destroyed plate?

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
