Description
The Beatles White Album PMC 7067 / 7068 Top Opener No 0134870 Initial copies pressed left off the centre label "An EMI Recording" publishing Credit as this was a contractual obligation it was swiftly corrected at the pressing plant. This copy has that error on Side One Label only so must have been pressed as they were rectifying that ! Sides 2,3 + 4 have an EMI credit. This copy has a sticky label mark to Side One + Side Three centre labels initially I thought perhaps it was some owners name then the penny dropped The Factory Sample Labels have been removed ! I have a copy of Abbey Road Factory Sample + they measure up exactly in size + position see photo + you can understand at the time someone doing this. Its obviously an early Mono copy to be missing EMI credit to Side One Label. Overall Excellent condition with excellent audio + no jumps or skips. There are many subtle differences between Stereo copies + the Mono copies of The Beatles White Album the most obvious being the shorter version of Helter Skelter in Mono which eliminates Ringo`s shouting of " I`ve got blisters on my fingers ! "but the track Yer Blues is longer on this Mono version. Monos are also scarcer as Stereo had really won over at this point in time. Matrix Nos as follows YEX 709-1 YEX 710-1 YEX 711-1 YEX 712-2 Sides One to Four Mothers in order are Side One 1 00 ,Side Two 3 GRO,Side Three 2 HH + Side Four 1 GRG The spine is still in great shape reading clearly The Beatles + carrying both Stereo + Mono catalogue numbers Original black inner bags with one having 1 1/2" tear + small loss to back Sides One + Three Vinyl Excellent Sides Two + Four have very light surface mark so Excellent- To sum up a lovely first pressing copy of the Mono White Album which has had its Factory Sample labels removed at some point.
