Description
Original UK Apple label stereo 1968 press double LP.The iconic Beatles LP originally released in November 1968 and the first pressing with No.0548237 on the front cover. This has the top opening, widespine gatefold sleeve, the fold-out collage poster, the four band pictures and the black Apple inners.
This is the original issue with the YEX-709-1, YEX-710-2, YEX-711-1, YEX-712-1 matrices and the 'Sold in the UK....' label texts on the dark green Apple labels! The fully laminated Garrod & Lofthouse top opening gatefold sleeve is intact & in VG+ condition, with some light laminate rubbing, a couple of small creases and some corner/edge wear in a couple of small areas, with some yellowing of the cover. The widespine is still readable, but slightly crushed where the laminate has cracked and lifted. The plain black inners have been carefully repaired & are in VG+ condition, with some light creasing and the matt foldout poster is in EX condition with some light creasing and the pictures are intact and in EX condition. The records are in visually EX condition, sides 1 & 2 have a couple of faint hairlines & one or two small needlemarks/bag scuffs and sides 3 & 4 have a few faint sleeve removal hairlines and one or two light needle scuffs visible on each side. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of a couple of faint spindle markings on sides 1 & 2 and a few more spindle markings on sides 3 & 4. The sound reproduction is EX, clear & precise throughout with definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some low background noise during the run in grooves & very briefly in a couple of the quieter passages. Overall, it is still a really great, loud & clear listen. The matrix nos. are;
YEX-709-1 mother stamper 4-HH, YEX-710-2 mother stamper 1-GOD, YEX-711-1 mother stamper 3-GDO, YEX-712-1 mother stamper 6-RM. This is one of the early pressings of the original 1968 UK stereo 1st issue of this album!
