A note of mothers and stampers: Parlophone use the following coding for mothers and stampers: G R A M O P H L T D  (Gramophone Ltd) where G=1, R=2, A=3, M=4, O=5, P=6, H=7, L=8, T=9 and D=0. The ultimate early pressing of any Parlophone LP would be denoted with the codes 1/G 1/G (side 1 and side 2), where the “1” represents the first Mother (9 o’clock) and the “G” denotes the first Stamper (3 o’clock) or one of the first 300 off the press.

Summary: Decent all-round numbered side-entry copy. No 298220, PCS 7067/68, Matrix 1,1,1,1. Clean Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve VG+, although slight warping on inside sleeve – no splits or rips. Clean labels. All four sides play through clean, no skips, sticks or jumps, clean, clear audio – S1 graded VG+, S2 EX, S3 EX and S4 EX.

Sleeve: Garrod and Lofthouse fully laminated side entry sleeve, light ringwear and light age-related handling. No rips, splits or writing. Inside cover might have been in contact with heat at one stage as there is slight warping (see photos) inside gatefold. Generally all-round decent condition graded solid VG+

Labels: This pressing doesn’t have the "Sold in the U.K." text on the labels. All clean, minimum signs of play, no writing, sticker residue or grubby paw marks, graded minimum EX- more EX

Vinyl: Both discs sit flat on turntable (no warping) while all four sides retain a sheen under normal light. Closer inspection under a bright light reveals light hairlines – mainly feint lines from sleeve removal and some very light cosmetic clouding. There is a thin scuff line S4, again mainly visible under light. None of which affect play in anyway. Visually graded EX-

Audio: All four sides play through clean no skips, sticks or jumps or dust crackle. There are a few light pips start of T2 S1 (Dear Prudence). Other than the aforementioned the rest plays through clean with clear audio, no pips, pops, sticks, jumps or dust crackle. Audio Graded: S1 VG+, S2 EX, S3 EX and S4 EX (played on a Project carbon - blue 2M Ortofon).

I have tried to be honest and transparent in my description - the photographs form part of the description. Questions are welcome, don't hesitate to ask. I have been a collector for 47+ years buying and selling records over the years to feed my changing music habits. The few records I sell are either the results of upgrades, duplicates or a bit of thinning every now and again as this is. I strictly adhere to the Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide using one + or - as an additional guide:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
