Great sounding complete low number mono White album with a number under 50,000. Please see the original stereo copy I am also selling.

These have generally been selling for £100-£250 in this condition. 99p start.

Housed in a fully laminated, top-loading 'Garrod & Lofthouse' mono cover, numbered: No. 0042141
Complete with original matt-black inners, matt 'Garrod & Lofthouse' poster and four thick card colour photos .

Matrix numbers: XEX 709-1, 710-1, 711-1, 712-1
Stamper numbers: 5 OM, 7 OL, 2 RL4 TO

Overall Sleeve Condition : GOOD

Outer gatefold cover: Laminated top opening front cover. Grey stamped number 0042141, embossed with `The Beatles'. Surface rubs and a few small creases, light ringwear and fading. Complete with plain black rough paper inners, creased but useable.

Inner gatefold cover cover: Laminated, this is in pristine (Excellent) condition. Just very slight fading

Edges: 2cm split to top spine corner. Noticeable discolouration and laminate lifting to spine.

Corners: Light scuffs

Top Opening Slit: Very slightly roughened.

Poster and Photos: All 4 shiny paper portraits are in EXcellent condition. The double sided poster has a few tiny creases but no tears, marks or pinholes.

Vinyl Condition, Visual: GOOD

Light marks and signs of wear across all four sides. There is one small scartch across `Honey pie'

Vinyl Condition, Audible: EXCELLENT.

Despite the G appearence, the LPs play extremely well, with only very minor static crackle between tracks and in quiet passages and in a few isolated places during quiet passages. The only faults are as follows: there is a one track click at the end of `Don't pass me by',  two light pops on `Julia', 4 small jumps during `Honey Pie'. Overall, this album plays very well with no major decreases in sound quality.

Each song on the sprawling double album The Beatles is an entity to itself, as the band touches on anything and everything it can. This makes for a frustratingly scattershot record or a singularly gripping musical experience, depending on your view, but what makes the so-called White Album interesting is its mess. Never before had a rock record been so self-reflective, or so ironic; the Beach Boys send-up "Back in the U.S.S.R." and the British blooze parody "Yer Blues" are delivered straight-faced, so it's never clear if these are affectionate tributes or wicked satires. Lennon turns in two of his best ballads with "Dear Prudence" and "Julia"; scours the Abbey Road vaults for the musique concrète collage "Revolution 9"; pours on the schmaltz for Ringo's closing number, "Good Night"; celebrates the Beatles cult with "Glass Onion"; and, with "Cry Baby Cry," rivals Syd Barrett. McCartney doesn't reach quite as far, yet his songs are stunning — the music hall romp "Honey Pie," the mock country of "Rocky Raccoon," the ska-inflected "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da," and the proto-metal roar of "Helter Skelter." Clearly, the Beatles' two main songwriting forces were no longer on the same page, but neither were George and Ringo. Harrison still had just two songs per LP, but it's clear from "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," the canned soul of "Savoy Truffle," the haunting "Long, Long, Long," and even the silly "Piggies" that he had developed into a songwriter who deserved wider exposure. And Ringo turns in a delight with his first original, the lumbering country-carnival stomp "Don't Pass Me By." None of it sounds like it was meant to share album space together, but somehow The Beatles creates its own style and sound through its mess.

UK Record Collector Grading System:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in the sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (US version of this term: Near Mint): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in the sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (US version of this term: VG++): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover, or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (US version of this term: VG): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits etc.
