The Beatles Yellow Submarine
VERY 1ST PRESSING IN EXCELLENT + CONDITION
Roll up, roll up all ye Beatles fans....Ready to be re-released by Disney in the near future as a 3D remake, it's The Beatles' YELLOW SUBMARINE.... This was The Beatles' eleventh official album release and interestingly enough, the first album of theirs to included non-Beatles material. Released, after a delay, in mid January the album made it up the UK charts to the 3rd position....With The Beatles' 'White' album denying it the top slot. There were only modest sales-in comparison with other Beatles releases-as the sales were around 800,000 within the first three months, but it did go over1 million sales by the end of the year. This could have had something to do with the album having only four original tracks and the rest was George Martin's film score.
So, here's the details of this album up for auction:
Catalogue number: PCS 7070
Matrix Numbers side 1: YEX 715-1 Matrix Numbers side 2: YEX 716-1 As you can see...It's the very first pressing...
NOW LOOK AT THESE MOTHERS/STAMPERS:
Mothers/Stampers side 1: 1 R Mothers/Stampers side 2: 1 P
WOW.........VERY, VERY EARLY PRESSING INDEED!!!! ***1st Day Pressing***
Vinyl: EX. There are just a few incredibly light hairline marks, that really is it!! I have just played her all the way through and found a simply superb deep and rich sound reproduction. I think a good professional clean will upgrade this rare early press of a hard to find record even further!!! WOW...Real upgrade. Flat, heavy and all original glorious vinyl!
Lables: EX+ She has the all important statement "Sold in the U.K...." showing it is a first press as well as "Mfd. in U.K."...If you needed any more convincing other than those HUGELY EARLY MOTHERS/STAMPERS. Nice dark apple, rather than the later lighter ones. Only a handful of incredibly light spindle marks, visible only when angled towards the light. THIS VINYL REPRESENTS EXACTLY HOW THE BEATLES WANTED YOU TO HEAR THIS ICONIC ALBUM. Very displayable...Very playable ;-) GORGEOUS
Cover: EX+. It is the original cover 1st printing cover-WITHOUT THE GARROD AND LOFTHOUSE STATEMENT TO THE FLIPBACK. Has the two red lines above and below the text to the back. The back card is still bright white and in tip top shape. The flipbacks are in superb condition, with the lovely rounded edges. The cover is the early cream cover, rather than the next printing of a whiter backround and darker grey for the 'hill' on which The Beatles are standing. Only very light wear to the opening and a few very small crescents of spidering to the laminate. Excellently strong spine. Really is a dsiplay piece which has been incredibly well looked after over the years. Please see the detailed photo's for yourselves.
Inner: EX++/NMint. It is the original black die-cut inner with the window to one side. In simply time-warp condition-Really is the best example I have ever come across!!! No splts or tears, or even any significant creases for that matter!!!
All in all it is a VERY rare, VERY first day pressing of a wonderful album. She is one heck of a rare beauty and an upgrade!!!
