You are bidding on an original "Yesterday and Today" Butcher “UNPEELED” paste over album, T-2553, Inner Sleeve with Capitol circular label with rainbow LP. This version has the original butcher cover intact underneath the pasted trunk cover on top. The pasted picture has not been peeled off. It has a very, very slight peel back in the bottom right corner. This is a very nice mono second state Beatles the RIAA number is 3. This LP is in VG condition, The Corners are in good shape, the spine is in good condition, with a slight flaw on the bottom left corner of the spine. The bottom spine also has a minor flaw, nothing to ruin the cover. There is no writing and very light wear to the cover. You can clearly see the outline of Ringos V neck and body underneath (clearly visible in person). The vinyl is in very good condition. This LP is very hard to find in this condition. A must have for any True Beatles fans.

CONDITION OF VINYL: Retains blackness and shine, there are a few minor scratches or scuffs, none that can be felt with the finger nail and the dont't affect the play of record.

        The controversy started in May 1966 when Capitol in the states required a cover for their Beatles LP "Yesterday... and Today". The infamous butcher cover has worked its way into legend to become the most sought after Beatles album of all time. Originally shot as part of a surrealist triptych by photographer Robert Whitaker, the sight of the Fab 4 dressed in butcher's aprons and adorned with raw meat and dismembered baby dolls proved too much for the US mainstream. Some DJs even refused to play the album because the grotesques jackets shocked them. Anyway, rather than waste the reported $200,000 printing cost of the sleeve, Capitol "removed" the sleeve and replaced it with a more decent shot (see pix opposite) by pasting a innocent looking shot of the band, but people started to peel, steam, tearing away the new sleeve because it was cool to own the banned cover!
