Description

Beatles and Frank Ifield-Vee Jay 1085- Mono- Portrait cover.Released in 1964 but withdrawn shortly thereafter as a result of legal entanglements between the Beatles and their former label Vee Jay Records over the use of the Beatles image by Vee Jay now that they were under contract to Capitol Records. This cover was replaced by the "Old English Gentleman" cover, but the musical content remained the same as Vee Jay still retained the rights to issue the music that the Beatles had recorded for Vee Jay while under contract to them.

Now the important stuff. CONDITION: The disc visually grades VG+ as well as playgrades VG+. The disc surface is still glossy, with a few small marks and hairlines. Clean shiny labels, black rainbow with Vee Jay oval logo.  No writing or marks of any kind on labels. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would grade the disc a strong 8.5.

THE COVER- all three seams are solid with no splits, although the lower right at the opening is getting thin. Color is worn off on the very tips of both corners at the top and bottom of spine. Spine is very solid and intact . All writing on spine is clear and legible with only a very small chip or two and very light rub-wear. Very light rub-wear on top and bottom seams.  Front of cover has very slight ring-wear starting at the top, going to the right across the opening and to the bottom. Left side of cover with the song titles is very clean. Back of cover is very clean with only the slightest notice of any rub-wear on the black portions. No writing or marking of any kind anywhere on cover. No stickers or sticker residue. Cut-out punch-hole (3/8") in upper left corner. Slight fraying around punch-hole on back of cover. Cover is flat with no moisture warpage. Would grade cover as VG+ or a solid 8 on a 1 to 10 scale.

The back of the cover contains the phrase, "it is with a good deal of pride and pleasure that this copulation has been presented."   The spine reads, "England's greatest recording stars The Beatles & Frank Ifield on stage."  The cover reads the same.

To avoid questions about the reserve, we're letting you know it's set at $1500.
