Nimbus records were a UK company established in 1972. Using ICI pure vinyl and engineering their discs directly from original master tapes, they produced recordings of outstanding audio quality. Their techniques produced amazing frequency reproduction which resulted in a virtually noise free groove.
Generally regarded as McCartneys' finest album, this was surely the perfect choice to become a Nimbus creation, thus offering an astonishing listening experience from the great man himself.
After the stylus touches down there is NO sound from the run in. The audio on each track is crystal clear and what I found particularly noticeable was the pure quality of Pauls' bass guitar throughout. The instruments used on each track seem to have more prominence than on standard issues. You will hear sounds you've never experienced before and on 'Bluebird' it's as if Paul is singing beside you. My run-of-the-mill system became top-of-the-range equipment playing this disc. Sound quality is truly mint. The glossy, mirror finish of the vinyl looks mint but as this has been handled, it is as least, near mint.
The labels, again, are visually as close to mint as you are likely to get. (Side 2 is as sharp as Side 1, just my dodgy camera work) These are original EMI issues and carry YEX 929 (side 1), YEX 930 (side 2), whereas the Nimbus hand etched vinyl dead wax uses YEX 929-A, YEX 929-B.
The original, Garrod and Lofthouse, unlaminated sleeve is not pristine but is still in excellent condition and carries the all important Nimbus sticker. These unprotected dark sleeves are notorious for showing severe ring wear and general grubbiness but this one has no real faults to report, the opening edges being perfect, with no bends or creases.
The inner sleeve is near mint, showing no record impression, as the disc has been stored seperately from new.
There was no 'Polaroid snapshots' poster with this copy but I have included one from the original 1973 1st pressings, which is near perfect except for a few small puncture tears (barely noticeable). The folded seams are unsplit.
A genuinely rare variant, offering a unique listening experience of pure enjoyment, not to be missed.
