READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

I recently took in a large collection of Beatles albums, which range in condition from a nice VG to EX.  They feature labels from first pressing Capitol to Apple through to the purple Capitol label.  I tossed out all the garbage, and will be selling these copies interspersed with my regular inventory for anyone who would like to have great play-copies, but who generally can’t afford the rarer variations for sale.

The vinyl is collectable on these, although the covers may be a bit dirty, and/or split.  Here’s one that’s a great, solid play copy.

**Keeping in mind that my VG grade does NOT allow for any feelable scratches, and a minimum of 75% original shine…**

This was Paul’s precursor to later orchestral albums, like “Thrillington,” “Liverpool Oratorio”and “Standing Stone,” only this one was written and recorded when he was just 24 years old!  Can you imagine?  (It was also after he commented to George Martin that he “didn’t want any of that Mantovani rubbish” when Martin suggested strings for “Yesterday.”

**And by the way, most collectors don’t realize that this album contains the original version of Paul’s “Love in the Open Air.”  The single that was released was a completely different performance by George Martin’s orchestra, and only in mono.

Stereo copies are slightly rarer than mono copies, since mono was still outselling stereo by about 4 to 1.  By 1968, when stereo became the only format, this album was out of print.

Vinyl--- VG/VG.  Light scratches on both sides only.  Nothing feelable with the fingertip.  Vinyl retains about 80% to 85% original shine.  Still a decent, collectable copy!

Plates--- XZAL 7598/XZAL 7599.  Matrices are machine-stamped.  Counterfeits are hand-etched.  This is a genuine pressing.

Cover--- VG.  As with most records from this collection, the cover is a little off.  Moderate ringwear on the front, light yellowing to the back.  Top seam looks like it was subjected to cat claws.  See photo.  But the spine and bottom seam are still nice, no splits. 

Labels--- EX/EX.  VERY light and few spindle marks only.  Otherwise, these labels look nice.

London Inner Sleeve--- VG. Generic white inner sleeve with no die-cut hole for the labels to show is present.  Sleeve has heavily yellowed.  Has some record outdent and wrinkling from improper insertion at the factory.  Small wrinkles and tiny tears to the top edge.  ¼-inch split to the bottom seam, but not to the sides.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original London inner sleeve en route.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
