Description

In this auction are 3 George Martin Beatles-related LPs. George Martin, the Beatles Recording Director, was considered “the 5th Beatle” due to his influence on so many Lennon-McCartney compositions.

LP #1:

·       HELP! by George Martin & His Orchestra

·       This LP is United Artists UAS 6448.

·       It was released September 6, 1965.

·       This is a STEREO pressing.

·       The Beatles appear on the cover. Their images were protected/copyrighted and did not appear on the cover of many LPs that were not Capitol/Apple Records pressings.

·       This LP contains instrumental versions of 7 Beatles songs that were in the motion picture “HELP!” plus 5 other Beatles songs, 3 of which are identified on the cover and label by their early working titles: “Auntie Gin’s Theme” for “I’ve Just Seen A Face”, “That’s A Nice Hat (Cap)” for “It’s Only Love”, and “Scrambled Eggs” for “Yesterday”.

·       The COVER is graded VG Condition. There is overall wear on the cover. There is wear (rounding and balding) on all 4 corners. There is heavy wear on the top edge and some cracking on the spine as well. There is a corner crease at top left and some clear tape on the bottom seam, though there is no indication that it was split. The white reverse shows aging and some wear. There is a name written in black ink at top right on the rear cover.

·       The VINYL is graded NICE and STRONG VG+ with some   surface hairlines/scuffs. The Vinyl has lots of gloss!

LP #2:

·       GEORGE MARTIN INSTRUMENTALLY SALUTES ‘THE BEATLE GIRLS’ by George Martin & His Orchestra

·       This LP Cover is United Artists UAL 3539 (Mono cover), but the vinyl is UAS 6539 (Stereo disc).

·       It was released in November, 1966.

·       The disc is a STEREO pressing.

·       The LP contains instrumental versions of 12 Beatles’ songs, most with a girl-connection. (Don’t know how “Yellow Submarine” made it on this LP?!)

·       The COVER is graded NICE VG CONDITION. There is some overall wear on the cover mostly at top center, remnants of a name in blue ballpoint at lower right, slight corner pushes on 3corners and some stains on the rear cover. Seams and spine are nice and strong.

·       The VINYL is graded VERY STRONG VG to/WEAK VG+ with a few surface hairlines/scuffs on each side. Vinyl has lots of gloss!

LP #3:

·       OFF THE BEATLE TRACK LP by George Martin & His Orchestra

·       This LP is United Artists UAS 6377.

·       It was released August 3, 1964.

·       This is a STEREO pressing.

·       The Beatles and George Martin are pictured on the front and rear covers. The Beatles’ images were protected/copyrighted and did not appear on the cover of many LPs that were not Capitol/Apple Records LPs.

·       The LP contains instrumental versions of 12 early Beatles songs including: “All My Loving”, “She Loves You”, “Can’t Buy Me Love”, “I Want to Hold Your Hand”, “Please Please Me”, and “From Me To You”.

·       The COVER is graded NICE VG Condition. There is overall wear on the cover both front and rear and a small corner push. Seams and Spine are nice and strong and without wear.  There is a corner push on the bottom right corner and some flaking on the top edge/seam.

·       The VINYL is also graded VG Condition with numerous surface hairlines/scuffs on each side. Vinyl still has lots of gloss.
