READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Beatles-Related 3-LP Wings Over America RAREST UNCONFIRMED Consignment Pressing, NM!

Collectors know that there were no consignment pressings for titles of Apple and Capitol solo Beatles albums. 

Well, almost none.

Barely any collector is aware that there actually was a consigned pressing of the first run from Columbia Records of Wings Over America.  This isn’t the later reissue with the red labels.  It really is that upon release, the demand was so high that Capitol was having trouble keeping up.  For a very short time only, Columbia stepped in to help out.

For a triple album set, this title sold extremely well.  You can still find this album very readily and easily, and with no effort.  However; I found this copy in the late 70’s, and have been looking for a second consigned copy ever since.

Never found one.

Vinyl--- NM/NM. NM/NM. NM/NM. 

Vinyl is of a much thinner stock than the usual thicker Capitol copies, which greatly reduces surface noise on brand new vinyl of the day.

Plates--- G17/G17. F10/G17. G17/G17. 

All 6 sides have “Mastered by Capitol” machine-stamped into the dead wax, as well as the initials, “GOL.”

No Capitol insignia from any pressing plant is present on any of the 6 sides.

Cover--- EX.  As Beatles fans know, this cover was vulnerable to heavy ringwear and record outdent, due to its weight from three LP’s.  This copy has some, but far less than what you’re accustomed to seeing.  NO SPLITS.

Most copies have five lights pictured at the bottom right of the front cover.  This cover has four lights.

Labels--- NM/NM. NM/NM. NM/NM.  All labels look brand new, unplayed.

Beatles collectors are aware of Columbia’s concentric groove on the labels of their consigned pressings of Beatles albums from throughout the 1960’s.  They feature a thin groove very close to the outer edge of the label.

For those unfamiliar, there are compere photos provided, which show the placement of the Capitol concentric groove, and another showing the placement of the Columbia concentric groove on their own red label records.

Poster--- EX/NM. 

This poster occupies the space between those two grades.  A beautiful example, just a tad below NM.

Capitol Inner Sleeves--- EX/EX. EX/EX. EX/EX.

All three sleeves are perfectly flat, razor-sharp corners and with extremely light record outdent.  However; two of the sleeves have bottom center seam splits that are less than ¼-inch long.  Tiny and minor.

Generic white inner sleeves will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeves en route.

Now that you’re aware that there is a consignment pressing for this solo title, best of luck finding a copy for your collection if you don’t win this one.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
