Beatles-Related LP Disconet The Original Beatles Medley 1979 NEVER MADE PUBLIC!

Some collectors have heard of this scarce LP.  Disconet had a subscription-only record service in the 70’s and early 80’s.  I have no idea how many volumes there were while this company existed, but this LP is the infamous Vol. 4, which has a Beatles medley that was crafted specially for their subscribers.

As opposed to that embarrassing “Stars on 45” medley from 1981 which made use of sound-alike vocalists over a disco beat and starting off with “Sugar, Sugar” of all things, this LP’s medley is comprised entirely of The Beatles’ original versions.

I’m guessing that the company was small enough to have stayed under EMI’s radar to have gotten away with it.  While this LP is completely a legitimate issue, it does not state anywhere on the labels that the material was used by permission.

That took a pretty big set of peach pits, even for 1979.

Vinyl--- EX/ VG+.  The Beatles Medley side has one long very light line that will not affect playback.  Side 2 has a few more.

Plates--- Machine-stamped opal with “EDP” inside on both trail-offs.  Non-Beatles side says, “Trudy does it again” in the trail-off.

Cover--- Generic white cardboard cover with a die-cut hole for the labels to show.  Good condition.  Structurally solid.  Name written on one side in ballpoint. A little dirty.  Completely generic and replaceable if it bugs you.

Labels--- NM/ NM.  Flawless labels.

Inner Sleeve--- Generic white inner with a die-cut hole for the labels to show.  Plastic coating on the inside.

If you can’t remember the last one of these you’ve seen for sale, take that as an indication as to when you’re going to see another one.  It’s the only one I’ve EVER seen.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
