There are, as we all know, about a ka-zillion Messiahs out there, each with its own strength. 

But, truth be told, in answer to which you would bring to that desert island if you could only pick one, this would be your winner.  Sure is mine, Beecham's read simply glorious, he at baton over the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus, with soloist support from Jennifer Vyvyan, Monica Sinclair, Jon Vickers, and Giorgio Tozzi.

Whats-more, the Soria edition pressings are to die for.  Of all eight surfaces, there are but two marks of any consequence amid the original shine.



The booklet, published in Switzerland by Skira has all of the tipped-in color plates scattered throughout the 25-page essay from Beecham.



Pebbled-surface box is without fault, all corners intact.

In my view, a fine prize in vinyl literature and a classic of extraordinary proportion.
