Description
This is the 1971 Deuche Grammophon pressing of their Beethoven Bicentennial Collection Box Set said to be one of the finest Beethoven recordings ever produced. It's all 17 volumes plus the book. There are 5 records per volume for a grand total of 85 records!
Of the 17 volumes, 7 have never been opened. Volumes 6 and 12 through 17 are brand new.
The 10 remaining volumes that had been opened were inspected by me to ensure that every volume is complete and there wasn't any serious damage to the records. The opened volumes totaled 50 records in all.
The vast majority of those 50 records have little to no signs of being handled. About a dozen out of the 50 have some minor signs of being played or handled. One had a small 2mm scratch. The most common sign of use were some shiny areas or streaks in the vinyl, probably from fingers or a dirty turntable.
I didn't take photos of the pristine looking records as they look pristine, but I've included one vinyl photo of the record I described above that's the worst one in the entire 85 record collection. It's the photo of side 9 of volume IV. It has about a 2mm scratch that you can see in the photo lower left of the record. It also had more shiny spots than any of the others. That's the worst it got.
Although most of the records appeared unplayed, the sleeves for many of them still have signs of storage wear. You can see some slightly crinkled openings in one of the photos.
The included book unfortunately has some liquid damage. It looks like some coffee or red wine was spilled onto the right lower corner of the book. The extent of that damage is also shown in the photos.
The boxes of all of the opened volumes have signs of shelf wear, but volumes 3 and 4 have minor to moderate damage to the box. The 3rd and 4th boxes from the left are volumes 3 and 4. The center of the box near the spine on volume 3 is creased inward. The box for volume 4 is the most significantly damaged box. You can see most of the rear bottom edge pushed in. The damage to both boxes is only visible from behind.
