STILL SEALED SINCE THE 1970S!

I inherited this album from my father who, during the 1960s and 1970s, was a distribution manager at Capitol Records (of which Seraphim Records was a sub-label). The box set is factory sealed in shrink wrap (see Condition below): it has never been opened or resealed. You can be the first person to play these LPs!

Included

·       3 stereo records in original sealed box, containing the Beethoven string quartets nos. 1 through 6. This is volume 1 of Seraphim’s release of the complete Beethoven quartets.

·       The Hungarian Quartet consisted of:

o   Cello – Gabor Magyar

o   Viola – Denes Koromzay

o   Violin – Michael Kuttner, Zoltan Szekely

·       Program notes.

Condition

Box

Completely intact; quite beautiful, actually, considering how long it’s been stored! There’s one small nick on the spine just before the word Seraphim; please see photos.

Records

Assumed to be Mint or Near Mint, though it’s possible that the actual listening experience will be less than that due to unknowable issues

Shrink wrap

Mostly intact, except for a split running for about 2/3 of the way along the top of the box, and two small nicks on the spine—please see photos. There are also two small air holes, intentional artifacts of the manufacturing process.

Wrinkles, scratches

A few long, horizontal scratches in the shrink wrap on the back, which nevertheless have not penetrated the slick

Smell

Very slight musty smell, as expected from a nearly 50-year storage period
