Beethoven Violin Concerto Kogan U.K. Columbia SAX 2252
Leonid Kogan with the Paris Conservatoire Orchestra conducted by Constantin Silvestri performs the Beethoven “Violin Concerto”. An English stereo pressing on the Columbia Label (SAX 2386), the labels are blue/green with silver border and “radio waves”, and black Columbia and stereo flash. The record is of worn appearance, with a fair amount of scuffing – one scuff runs across almost the whole of side two. However the record plays and sounds superb with low–level surface noise and a few clicks - one occasion there are four in a row and another 6 - but for the most part, there is little interferance and listening to this truly great performance and superb recording was a pleasure. The cover has rubbed badly and there are tears (about an inch) along the top and bottom right-hand edges. The back has yellowed and is a little grubby.
