Hi! Well that was a great success! Clearly my £200 reserve was too rich, so I will relist it. This record is clearly not the investment piece I thought it was ten years ago! No free postage this time, which I had thought rather generous. Buyer will pay for properly insured postage. There is no reserve, starting price at the original Missing Records 1996 price tag of £7.99. Just for added fun I am including a Sealed, unplayed Promo CD of "She's Losing It" which I have discovered! It seems to be on Delabel (French?) DE4719 dated 1999. It's never been opened so I assume it is as new. I am not sure what is in there - not even sure how I got it, but it will be slipped into the winner's package.It's free, probably very rare but don't get hung up on it! Here's the story. Between 1999 and 2003 I bought four unplayed/mint copies of this album. I played each one through to ensure the condition, tucked them away safely and played a cheap crackly, plasticky Jeepster pressing if I needed a vinyl fix of Tigermilk! The Jeepster pressings were awful, bright, wafer thin things. I have just examined this closely and there is an infinitessimally (spellcheck that) small surface mark on "State", so I just listened to it on a brand new stylus and it isn't anything that I can hear.So that track has now had two plays (I bought this one in 99 as unplayed). There is something very special about these Electric Honey pressings - the sound is quite extraordinarily full and involving, the vinyl is a big hefty thing and there are absolutely no pops crackles or bumps. It could be psychological, listening to what is for many of us a part of pop history, but it just sounds better than the Jeepster vinyl when played on a good analogue system. Someone told me they remastered the Jeepster vinyl and CD issue so if this is true, this is the unremastered version, which would explain it. The etching on the vinyl says "Masterpiece Tim D EHRLP -5 A1". 1000 pressed, 300 or so were I believe warped and unplayable, many got frisbeed at the June 1996 CaVa launch party. Here's one that sounds and looks like it came from the shop yesterday. I hope the pictures show the condition to be what it is - perfect- this pressing has the added benefit of having the original "Missing" Records (Glasgow,I think on Argyle Street? I might be wrong it's been a few years since I was in there) price sticker at £7.99. This price tag has never been removed and I think we should leave it on! The sleeve, spine, inner sleeve and vinyl are as you would expect from something this well cared for. If you want any more high res photos of this just let me know. There is a piece in Paul Whitelaw's book regarding the distribution of this record which captures my imagination: "Neil remembers most of the group taking bundles of records into shops themselves, Stuart watching forlornly as one of his deliveries sat yellowing and unwanted in one particular shop window" Well, none of mine are yellowing, but the price tag gives this away as a local Glasgow shop copy. I am not a record dealer, but an early fan who believed in investing in what I still believe to be one of the finest records ever made. That investment was clearly a mistake but I don't need 4, the other three are going back into storage and I may list them at some point in the distant future. The record is here with me in Prague but I am a 100% UK Ebayer of ten years. European postage will be heavily insured, packed in airbags and a biggish box and European signed-for. US/Canadian buyers we will discuss the options - but it will be at the expense of the buyer. This could be expensive, but I will only ask for the cost of what I am charged, a receipt will be provided. Happy bidding, as they say. "Any idea of the relevance of the etching of "Masterpiece" in front of the standard run out etching?" If anyone can shed light on this please email me and I will pass on the answer to Rob. My thoughts are that it may be some form of "master" pressing, however it seems to weigh the same as the other three there doesn't seem to be anything that makes this any different from the standard EH5. Is it just a whim by the TimD pressing guy? His personal thoughts on the album? Anyone with more info please let me know! Ta, Jon
