Description
Purple label with silver text, deep groove. New Jazz was a subsidiary of Prestige Records and the record is identified as Prestige/New Jazz on both the front and back cover. Leader, Benny Golson, tenor sax, featuring Curtis Fuller,trombone with Ray Bryant, piano; Tom Bryant, bass; Al Harewood,drums. 5 tracks. 3 of these tracks were composed by Golson. Recorded by Rudy Van Gelder. The initials "RVG" are inscribed in the dead wax.
Cover: Fair(+) 3" split on the spine near the top edge. Some discoloration marks along the insert edge on the front and back cover. There is a small tear on the insert edge on the front and back cover. The back cover shows some irregular aging and there appears to me some surface "wear" that may be attributed to moisure.
Record: Mint(-) In spite of the cover condition, the record appears to have been played only 2 or 3 times with care. The record shows no wear but there is some slight discoloration to the vinyl in some places. This does not affect the sound. On Side A, Track 1, slight groove noise on the first 2 or 3 revolutions, most barely audible. Also, 1 or 2 revolutions have barely audible groove noise in 2 places. On Track 2, 2 faint, isolated clicks mid-Track, also barely audible. 1 faint click on Track 3. On Side B, faint groove noise the first 2 or 3 revolutions with 1 or 2 faint clicks in 2 places, 1 faint click during the piano solo, and at the end of the Track. On Track 2, 2 or 3 faint clicks during the bass solo,also, barely audible. As described the noise is slight. Audibly checked.
