Description
Big Brother & The Holding Company Cheap Thrills LP - 1970 US pressing (I think). Sent with Australia Post Standard.
Cat. No. KCS 9700, which was the catalogue number of the original 1968 issue. However, the inner paper sleeve has a 1970 copyright stamp, so I think this must be an issue from that year. (See discogs.com)
The vinyl has surface scratching, but I have played the album through, and audio deterioration was modest. I guess I would rate it VG on the Goldmine rating scale. Most of the record plays through seamlessly with only unobtrusive defects that the listener is unlikely to notice on a casual listen. There is an audible pop on track 2 side 2 (not too loud) and a couple of seconds of crackles midway through track 3 side 2, with some more light crackling on the quiet latter part of the final track. If you listen intently with headphones on (as I did for this ad) you can notice minor background defects, but overall I think the defects are not offensive. Labels are clean without spindle marks, writing or stickers.
The gate fold cover is in good condition, but with some age discolouration, some glue separation next to the Hell's Angels logo when held up to the light on an angle; some minor creasing and abrasion around the edges. There are no stickers, writing, or tears. The classic Crumb cover is clean and in good nick other than the glue separation issue mentioned above. The cover is heavy, stiff cardboard, common in this era of US record production.
So, I have gone to some trouble to try to convey as best I can where this album sits in terms of condition. I don't want a buyer to come back at me over differences of opinion on this. If in doubt, don't buy. From my point of view, the package is absolutely not in pristine condition, but as a reasonable listening copy I think it works.
Records are sent in a double layer of rigid cardboard with the vinyl external to the cover to minimise the risk of compression damage to the cover. A used plastic dust jacket is included.
