Description

Bill Evans & Company -
A SIMPLE MATTER OF CONVICTION –
Verve UMV-2107 Gatefold –
Japanese Pressing

It was a 1966 session of legendary proportion.

It was the first time that drummer Shelly Manne and bassist Eddie Gomez were recorded with Evans, and did they ever push him.  Or perhaps...it was the other way ‘round, Evans on his game, making that piano “sing.”

Either way, the music here remains incomparable, all players of one mind. Great selections include UNLESS IT’S YOU, THESE THINGS CALLED CHANGES, STELLA BY STARLIGHT, I’M GETTING SENTIMENTAL OVER YOU, MY MELANCHOLY BABY, and STAR EYES, among others.

Fabulous jazz, top shelf in every way, and this pressing the best incarnation on vinyl of it all. The Japanese release: Cover without fault, record within will play near mint.

For other fine records, TAS picks and hard-to-finds, please see my complete list of offerings here on eBay.

Shipping and handling is $5 for up to 5 LPs shipped within the States. Internationally, $15 via airmail for the first LP, $3 each thereafter. (Canada is half that.) Boxes over 4 lbs., add another $6, because First Class is no longer available at that weight, just Priority Mail. Note, too, boxed sets of LPs require more postage.
